Ya know I don't really choose one over the other. Never have, never will. I'm positive that I'm mixed/biracial. From what I've heard and learned from observations from my family, Indigenous and Spanish. So the typical mixed Mexican type. The thing is that I don't see it as white and brown or whatever and I never have. I don't think I've heard or remember this topic being brought up in my family or other Mexicans and Mexican-M'uricans. I think many of us just identify as Mexicans or at least that's the way I see it. Idk.
And I've been thinking for a long while now about stuff like the OP said. How people choose black over white and white over black. It happens in both ways. Like with Obama. I've noticed that people choose a lot and not just the biracial/mixed people themselves, but others who look at them and choose how to view them. Sometimes this can have racist tendencies as I've noticed. People give special treatment or look down on either of their racial sides.
Anyway I just think that's wrong to do and weird to notice. I don't think many people notice though, they're too busy looking at their skin color and in a way trying to take credit for their race or credit for someone that looks like them.
@killerforhire: A couple of centuries ago White people made up a term called "The One Drop Rule". What this rule means is that if you just have a "drop" of Black in you then your Black. The vast majority of African-Americans are probably between 20% to 50% White too. But no matter how light-skinned they are they'll still be considered just Black.

As a half white/half Latino, I normally claim white if I have to choose, because I look white. I have some Hispanic features, but for the most part, I look Caucasian.
But that's if there's only one option (ie a survery). If I can put both, I will.
