Having contemplated the matter, while watching the entire first season of Falling Skies yesterday, I am now ready, after 10 years, to expand my list from "Top 10" to "Top 20"

  1. Seven (1995)-- "This isn't going to have a happy ending."
  2. Glory (1989)-- "We runaway slaves but we come back fightin' men."
  3. American Beauty (1999)-- "I don't think that there's anything worse than being ordinary".
  4. Boogie Nights (1997)-- "You know this is the film I want them to remember me by."
  5. Fight Club (1999)--"It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything."
  6. The Fountain (2006)--"Death is the road to awe."
  7. The Brothers Grimm (2005)--"Well, the music seems to have turned horribly French."
  8. Memento (2000)--"We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are."
  9. O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)--"You dont' say much my friend, but when you do it's to the point, and I salute you for it."
  10. Dark City (1998)--"It seems you have discovered your unpleasant nature."

@chalkshark: I love it O' Brother Where Art Thou is also in my top ten.   Seven is a funny one.  I have never seen it admittedly but I never heard or read anything that would make me want to see it.  Now I see it ranked high on not only your list (with whom I respect) but, also on lists of really reputable critics.  It makes me wonder if I am missing something.  =)

Now that I'm thinking about it I have only seen three in your list of 11-20.  I am intrigued to see you make a top 100 list.  I really wanted you to make one and asked you but didn't want to be a pain.  I'm glad to see you participate.

@Liberty: Seven is an oppressively dark film, but one that is well-written, well-performed, and well-directed. It's a real pleasure to see so many creative people bring their "A" game to such a brutal story. It's not for everyone, & I absolutely do not recommend you watch it with your son.

Always happy to participate. It's the whole point of being part of a community. Ask me anytime. I'll be there.

On a completely unrelated note, I haven't forgotten your drawings. I intend to get all four characters to you. Life just hasn't been terribly co-operative of late. Thank you for your patience.

I think I may have opened a gate here. "Top 30" Here we come.

  1. Silence Of The Lambs (1991)-- "Ready when you are, Sergeant Pembry."
  2. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)--" I don't think you'd know where to put food at, if you didn't flap your mouth so much. Yes, I think you're stupid."
  3. Barfly (1987)--"I'd hate to be you if I were me."
  4. Zodiac (2007)--"Just because you can't prove it doesn't mean it isn't true."
  5. Snatch (2000)--"You're not much use to me alive are you, Turkish?"
  6. Trainspotting (1996)--"We called him Mother Superior on account of the length of his habit."
  7. Go (1999)--"If you were any less black, you would be clear."
  8. The Usual Suspects (1995)--"A man can convince anyone that he's somebody else, but never himself."
  9. The Way Of The Gun (2000)--"I think a plan is just a list of things that don't happen."
  10. Starman (1984)--"Shall I tell you what I find beautiful about you?"

Yeah, like Sixth Sense, Seven was ruined for me as I know what happens.  So, I know I won't let my boys see it...not for a long, long time anyway.  =)

I can't wait to see the art.  No pressure at all believe me I have a full life of good and bad so I can relate there.  So again, no pressure.  Just excitement.  =)

I'm going to start with Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark to start as it's #1 on my list. I'll come back with more (as in order as I can get) later.........you'll probably get a few posts like this, lol, I'll try to have more than one movie on it though, but I'll have a complete list by the end of it.

That is cool.  I know users who take a little time doing it are doing it because they want it done right.

@GTG12: Yeah that was an awesome film.  I know it will be in my top 100 but it is so new I'm afraid of giving it too much credit to soon.  That said it was without a doubt in my mind the best superhero movie ever.

Coming in late tonight. Had a friend over who wanted to catch up on season two of Game of Thrones. Luckily, for him, it's still "On Demand". Expanding into "Top 50" territory.

  1. X-Files:Fight The Future (1998)--"When I panic, I make this face."
  2. From Hell (2001)--"How long have you been chasing the dragon, Inspector?"
  3. The Door In The Floor (2004)--"This story is better in the dark."
  4. Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)--"It's a thousand years to Christmas, Mr. Holloway."
  5. Hellboy (2004)--"You should be running."
  6. Falling Down (1993)--"Listen fellows, I've had a really rare morning."
  7. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)--"He tasks me."
  8. High Fidelity (2000)--"All he wanted to do was go to the movies."
  9. American Psycho (2000)--"That's Bone"
  10. Gangs of New York (2002)--"He was the only man I ever killed worth remembering."

When you asked about which was my favorite Wind in the Willows I answered correctly but I forgot about Wind in the Willows(1983)...it would be 100(and Who Framed Roger Rabbit would go up to 99 thus eliminating Fools Gold)...hope you don't mind changing it for the tally?(Sorry for all the changes I have made I forgot some and I keep getting reminded of it...this should probably be it though)

@Liberty: Afraid I'll have to finish this up next week. Bailing for the weekend to go see my girl. No computer access while I'm with her, though there will be a private pool, so... it's a fair trade. Have a great weekend.

Beauty and the beast 1991 animated... as for Journey to the center of the earth it is no longer in Top 100...Who Framed Roger Rabbit is #99(removing Fool's Gold) and Wind in the Willows(1983) is 100...so it doesn't really matter what Journey was.
