Of course it should be, the days of living in the oppressive and racist Apartheid government are over. Now we can use that free speech from our democracy to heavily criticise what morons my current government is.

@nerevarine_11: Yeah, absolutely. Just waiting, once again, to see if our current idiot of a president will be recalled from his duties by the National Executive Committee of the governing party. Fingers crossed.

That's changing though. THere is a push from many sectors attacking it. Not to mention the whole PC "Hate Speech" thing. Which is just a mask to attack that right.

Freedom of speech should be a right in all societies. In the United States it is a right that is guaranteed by our Constitution, and is defended by law makers, police, and the military. In the Supreme Court. Throughout our history, especially the last hundred years, the Supreme Court has been markedly careful to err on the side of protecting free speech in most, if not all, of its decisions. I can cite the major ones if needed.

ISIS has nothing to do with freedom of speech. Dunno about the other two.

All terrorist organizations, so freedom of speech is not applicable there.

Absolutely. The ability to use it when it is most important, peaceful protests and voicing discontent with our government or other situations in life, is more than worth the ability to misuse it with hate speech and casting insults at others.

Everyone has the right to speak their mind. They do not have the right to be listened to.

Indeed. I was just saying that those groups are way past using their freedom of speech.

President Trump does not agree with you

Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag - if they do, there must be consequences - perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!

Not the first time he's proposed anti-Constitutional authoritarian restrictions on free speech and freedom of the press.

a) What do these statements have to do with each other? Because both involve fire?

b) Trump's opinion on the matter isn't exactly uncommon, and was a huge issue during the Vietnam conflict and the Iraq/Kuwait conflict, with a fairly large number of proposals to amend the Constitution. All of which failed.

Just because others have called for curtailing freedom of speech doesnt mean it's ok for Trump to do it too.

"Two wrongs make a right" is not "high ground", but it certainly appears to be the Trump supporters favorite argument in making excuses for all the bullshit that he says. I guess if you cant defend what he says you can try to distract and confuse people.

Also, Trump went further and claimed that he wanted to take away citizenship from people for flag burning... showing how clueless he is because the Supreme Court a long time ago ruled that you cannot take away citizenship from anyone no matter what they do. Trump's ignorance is legendary at this point. Trump's presidency will be the biggest shitshow in history.
