If you live in anywhere expect Asia (and maybe South America), arcades are like 2-door cars: a dying breed. This puts them in a similar place to comic book shops. If you do happen to have one near you, what do they have? Is it actually an arcade arcade or a low-rent Chuck E. Cheese? Can you add pictures? How long has it been there? Do you frequent it?

@novarichrider: eh, I guess. Sadly, it is usually the closing thing to an actual arcade. It is to real arcades what Bayformers is to Transformers.

@jointron33:

It's called All Star Adventures. It's a big arcade fused with a mediocre amusement park.

I consider a legit arcade one that has street fighter machine. That being said, I live in NJ and I think the closest legit arcade is in Brooklyn.

Most arcades around York,PA are closing. Can't think of any.

We have a huge place called The Colliseium but it's not in York. It's like, 20-40 minutes away. It's huge though. It has a nice sized arcade, a pizza resturant, a bowling alley, and pool tables.

The arcade in the closest mall just closed. We have a Chuck E Cheese that still runs great, but the machines are just ticket grabs honestly.

Arcades are becoming close to non-existant. And it's sad.

There's a decent one in the mall in my area. Has a few decent cabinets like Tekken, MvC, etc. But mostly shooters and claw machines.

There's also this place called Nickel-A-Play. Name is pretty self explanatory. Its kind of run down and its mostly classic cabinets like Pac Man, Galaga, etc but you its fun to go with like 5 bucks and kill an afternoon.

There's also a bar called The 1Up that is an arcade. Its easily the best. Has every good cabinet you can think of. Same with pinball machines. And each play is a quarter. Beer is decently priced too.

There's an "arcade" in most movie theaters near me. I don't count that, though.

I do know of a bowling place that also has arcade games, however. So that probably counts.

I live near a few Chuck E. Cheeses and Dave and Busters. Like, 3 hours a way or so, there are a ton of arcades at the closest beach. The main one with the haunted house and everything else big has been there since I can remember. No sign of it closing down anytime soon.

I don't know of any dedicated arcades close by, but there are arcade games at amusements and bowling alleys etc, usually in amongst grab machines, penny pushers, puggies and stuff.

There's a few in the Chicago suburbs... All of them are really good, but the best one, which I filmed a CV video for, years ago is Galloping Ghost Arcade.

Here's a vid from two years ago where I talk about Judge Dredd arcade.

Not really, but there's a Dave 'n' Buster's. But, to be honest, arcades nowadays arent really that fun anymore, based on the experineces i have had in them in recent years. Half of the games are Apps you can get for the iPhone or iPad, and I never want to see, or have to pay to play,Fruit Ninja in an arcade ever again. What ever happened to the great arcade style games like; C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa, Battle Toads, Double Dragon, The Neo-Geo Machines, Metal Slug, Bushido Blade, MK and SF, TMNT: Turtles in Time, X-Men, Area 51, Rush, Tekken, Gauntlet Legends, NFL Blitz, NBA Jam, Cruis'n USA, Crazy Taxi, Time Crisis, Marvel v Capcom, The Simpsons, Captain America and the Avengers, Soul Calibre, House of the Dead, Carnevil....you ge the point.

Games are just not very adaptable to an Acrade format any more. T'is a sad sad realization.

Arcades are mad popular here in Asia. Nearly any mall will have one. Nothing beats Initial D racing, House of the Dead, or that dance thing that people love.

I live in Atlanta, and there are 2 that I have seen. I've only been to one. It had some pretty standard things. I saw: Super Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag 2, a billion racing games, a pinball machine, Pac-Man, some old space shooter, and some first person shooter.

There is a Playdium (think superhuge video game emporium) and like other people mentioned, Dave and Busters and Chuck E Cheese and bowling alleys with dedicated arcade rooms and even little kid playhouses which usually have a bit off to the side for the older crowd. Back home there used to be a lot of them (in malls or strip malls) but I haven't noticed if they've disappeared or not.

Also, hotels here have arcade rooms for supposedly younger guests. Especially in the Niagara Falls area.

There is only one arcade that I know of in my area. It is near a movie theater. I love that place. They have almost everything there. Cruisin' World, Tekken, Star Wars, Air Hockey, Laser Tag, Rollerblading, Ice Skating, Bowling, Pool (not the Swimming Pool), etc. It really is an amazing place. I hope that it stays in business. Playing at the arcade is much more fun than console gaming. That's for sure.
