Such was the case on an average Thursday morning when 13 year old Erik Martin was gearing up for another day at school, when Spider-Man gave him a call about an imperative mission that only Erik could complete. The Seattle Times reported recently Erik Martin, who also goes by the name Electron Boy, saved a local soccer team from an evil man, and it was all put together by the Make-A-Wish Foundation:
Erik Martin has been living with liver cancer and his one dream was to become a super-hero. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, who grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, is known for doing things for children, like taking them to a country they've always wanted to go to or maybe even a trip to Disney World, but for this kid, they've gone above an beyond! This task involved hundreds of volunteers, including police officers, and as said in the quote, they even shut down a couple of roads to help Erik save the team!"Dr. Dark" and "Blackout Boy" had imprisoned the Seattle Sounders in a locker room at Qwest Field. Only Electron Boy could free them. Erik got into his red-and-blue superhero costume, and called on the powers of Moonshine Maid, who owns a DeLorean sports car. For good measure, more than 20 motorcycle officers from the Bellevue Police Department and King County and Snohomish sheriff's offices escorted Electron Boy to Seattle. "They shut down 405 — they shut down I-90," marveled Moonshine Maid, aka Misty Peterson. "I thought it would just be me, in the car."

Erik, a boy a few words, later confronted the notorious Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy, and after a heated exchange between the talkative Dr. Dark and the silently vigilante Erik "Electron Boy" Martin, Erik thrusted his lightning rod forward and defeated the villainous Dr. Dark, saving the Seattle Sounders soccer team! Plus, he got to ride in a De Lorean, how cool is that?
This mass effort by all the volunteers and the Make-A-Wish Foundation puts a giant smile on my face. It's so cool to see so many people come together to help a boy's dream come true, no matter how large scale the project could be. Erik is dealing with something incredibly stressful and saddening and to see him spending a whole day, enjoying life, is an incredibly heart-warming experience, even as you read the original article.
What an awesome day for Erik "Electron Boy" Martin, and although he didn't have too much to say about this entire experience, he was quoted once.Watching her son run across the plaza in front of the Space Needle, mom Judy Martin said Erik goes to school when he's able, but is often too tired. "He hasn't had this much energy in a long time," she said. "They called it the power of the wish, and they're right."
"This is the best day of my life."
