Best Freestyler: Yassin Bey

Best Music: lil WAYNE(jokes on you)

Best Rapper: Rakim

Honestly I love Mos, Wayne, and Big. I haven't heard a lot from Rakim but I voted him best rapper because I've heard or seen several people express how Rakim is Hip Hop's greatest lyricist.

I love Mos' freestyles more than anyone here maybe more than anyone ever.

Although Wayne has made a lot of songs I don't like he also has made a lot of songs that I do like. Biggie does have classics though and so does Mos. I dunno the more I think about it the harder it is. Mos, Big, and Wayne all have songs I love and a list of songs I find forgettable.

We all know Pac is the greatest over all though.

Biggie & Yasiin Bey are two bad muthas but I gotta give it to my man Rakim, Biggie & Yasiin ain't got shit on Ra.

Ra is all braggadocio, that his primary subject matter.

Would put Ye on par with Ra, Big, & Def. Subjact matter wise he is, and he revolutionized Hip-Hop and influenced so many MCs.

@wavemotioncannon: Why would you comment on something i said over One year ago? In terms of skill, Mos Def and Rakim are better i agree with that. Ye colud be better than B.I.G. As an artist i would take Yeezy over Mos Def and Rakim Wayne never was on Ye level as an artist or as a Rapper.

@dboyrules2011: because I just saw thread today, never looked at the date just like others that posted today. I kinda agree about Ye over Ra overall but not lyrically.

He seemed to be doing a mix of pop-music and street rap in Life After Death. Kinda like Jay-Z's done his whole career. Who knows? He might've been NY's top MC....Hov and Nas might never have the popularity they got now.

Reasonable Doubt is the sole exception....my point is that Hov's mix of both street and pop records was something that BIG did too, so that could've been the trajectory Biggie's career could've gone were he still alive.

I'll give you AG, but come on, Blueprint had Izzo, Girls Girls Girls, and Jigga That Ni**a. Black Album had Change Clothes. Those are all pretty straightforward radio singles.

It also had a Neptunes beat, was released as a single, and hit the Billboard Top 10.

Also, it wasn't exactly a diss against David Stern, just that Hov was trying to change hip-hop's fashion sense, and Stern actually asked Hov to tell people to change back because his throwback jersey sales were dropping.

Huh? The Neptunes were one of the most popular producers in the early 2000s, the song has a Pharrell chorus, and it was released as the first single off the Black Album. Hov doesn't release a single and not expect it to chart.

@veshark: Yes but because a song was released as a single doesn't necessarily mean it's meant to be pop.

Kendrick released Swimming Pools, did he want it to blow up? Yes, but it is no ways a pop single.

Ok, I think you're missing the point of my comment. I was saying that Jay's career was built on his albums being able to cater to both radio airplay and hip-hop heads. He had tracks meant to be singles, and tracks where he showed off his lyrical skills.

When I say 'pop', I mean 'meant for the radio'. I don't see why you're being so pedantic.

Real quick: I despise the topic of sounds/songs sounding like "pop" or "underground." I truly believe it is a ridiculous subject. There are no facts to proof the reality of an interpretation. People want to say "Juicy" was a "pop" song and others want to claim it isn't. It is just a waste of a subject.

BACK ON TOPIC: I agree with VeeShark. Change Clothes pop record... Swimming Pools(DRANK) pop record.

"No it wasn't"... pop is short for Popular. You're lying if you're saying "DRANK" isn't a popular song.

"POP" and "REAL" are the two worst words to use in a conversation or debate.

Not to mention Hate, Run this Town, and Empire State of Mind if we wanna go Vol. 3. I like Jay-Z but I wish he would go back and make some tracks like he did on Reasonable Doubt. Dead Presidents 2 was always one of my favorite songs growing up.

Ha. Maybe you're right, I love the beat though. The piano loop with the Nas sample...really gets the loneliness and paranoia of a dealer across to the listener

Same here man. I've always been pretty partial to beats that give off that 90's South Central kinda feel. Nas, Lupe, Ice Cube and Common are pretty good at bringing that out in their songs.

Freestyles don't exist imo, i never found someone say their freestyle just once

Biggie from suicidal thoughts(the use of Puff is amazing) to hardcore rap to pop music his story telling nature is just unmatched

Biggie he is # 1 or 2 all time, depending how you see Jay-Z(who surprises me not to be mentioned)
