The Shining is the only correct answer.

EDIT: No wait The Stand is also correct.

The Shining is the only correct answer.

I don't know how it slipped my mind.

If you're talking about Kubrick's version, it wasn't even remotely close to the book. Misery is probably the closest adaptation on that list.

The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and Stand By Me are probably the best adaptations.

My favorites are The Dead Zone, Firestarter and The Running Man.

Of the ones listed, I'd say Carrie (and her dirty pillows).

I believe they're remaking The Stand (and It), but they're going to have to go a long way to do the opening scene from the mini-series.

I think a lot of King's books are set in maine. But of the three choices I think you are thinking of IT. Or Stand by me?, Though I do not recall if a character was a writer in that book/film.

Are you thinking of The Dark Half?

EDIT: The only other ones I can think of with a writer as the main character are The Shining, Secret Window & Misery but Secret Window & Misery take place in New York & I'm not sure where The Shining takes place.
