Anyone else feel awkward when it comes to this kind of situation?

Some relative of yours that you've never heard of & met just died and you have to go to the place they used to live in for their wake/funeral & you ended up meeting other relatives that you've never heard of & met. Then you don't know exactly how to grieve for the person who just died since you don't really know them & act as if you look really down because of said person's death so you don't leave a bad impression on your relatives that you just met.

Ya if I was in this situation I would be worried why I don't give a shit my relative died your Unfair life.

In situations like this I find it best to ask said relatives to tell you fond memories of the deceased, in theory it can help the grieving process and give you an idea of what they were like. If not that, volunteering to help out with preparations/cleaning/food is usually appreciated by those in mourning.

I've never gone to a house for a funeral but every time my mom tells me one of her nephews or relatives died back east I just give a sad look. I mean, even she didn't know them that well, so I wouldn't say it's awkward, just sad but not to the point where it actually affects you.

I used to. Been some years because no one's really made me go to those. I hardly even go to funerals for the people I like.

I don't understand the point of funerals. If I died I wouldn't want one.
