Why? What did he do 'in his prime' that he didn't do at UFC 175. He still used the same sen-no-sen tactic; maintain distance, bait them into coming in, explode at the same time with a Karate blitz. Weidman countered that perfectly using ringcutting tactics to close the gap without rushing in, used feints and pressure-fighting to corner Machida, use his wrestling to beat him up while pressuring him against the cage and dominate him on the mat.

Chris is a disciplined and tactical fighter and he fought the perfect fight. No one thought Machida was out of his prime before UFC 175, he was murking MWs left-and-right. It was a great fight, one that Weidman deserved to win.
