With the Fantastic Four book ending 2015 and it's characters may end up elsewhere, and It seems that they stay together mostly out of tradition more than anything. Should Marvel's longest running couple end?

@crimz: No, they are famous for the longest couple status, it should stay that way to be honest...

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Why should they divorce? Why should the institution of marriage not be respected?

The Fantastic Four stay together because they are a family first, and super heroes second and in a very unique situation compared to other super heroes.

I don't agree with the fallacious throw away statement that some folks might use "Because it's a story that hasn't been told" I think it's a story that doesn't need to be told. I could however accept a (temporary separation) for the sake of a good dramatic story-arc.

As they say "For better or worse", "Till death do us part". They can endure all trials and tribulations and are a great example of an honest, hard working and committed marriage.

The world has enough narcissistic and hedonistic philandering lifestyles going on. There is no need to mess with Marvel's first family in that way

Wipe that thought from your mind right now :-)

If she hasn't left him by now she never will. Sue's too much of a doormat to divorce him. Not that marvel wouldn't put the storyline out there just for the sake of having it done, but I don't see it. I never thought they should when I was growing up and reading the FF, but after the past few years... Yea... Maybe.

It seems like it's more likely one of them will get killed off.

Absolutely not. There are so few successful, long term relationships in comics, that it is nice to see that some things can stand the test of time. They have their ups and downs as a family, but they stick together and work through it like a family does. That is what makes them special.

Don't want them to divorce, just wanted to know how others thought of the relationship. Sometimes, it feels like writers keep them together because of them being the longest running married couple. Which is both good and bad for different reasons.

No, but they should put a bullet into each of their stupid kids and then kill themselves. My fear is that marvel will merge the 4 souls and make it into some retarded omniversal (what a stupid word) cosmic entity called Superduperpooperactus, who rapes everybody up to living tribunal except Iron Man is still alive and creates an omniversal cosmos time machine out of used staples and Odin' s enchanted desktop computer reversing everything that happened still leaving us with shitty Franklin, reed, and Valerie. Oh, and then Thor goes insane cause Loki's macking with Sif. He throws a banana and then a tree at living tribunal, who slips on banana and get impaled by tree branch and dies. Thor becomes living Thor and kills stuff. Franklin Richards in his sleep accidentally impregnates X-Man in the future. Nate is like,"wtf, I'm getting really big beer belly" before the baby pops out. The baby grows (who is of course super genius and controls electrons) grows up and travels back in time to escape Cyclops who's being a dick in the future and meets a grown up Valerie Richards and they have a baby. The resulting baby is actually the Living Tribunal from 4000 years ago. He is also black. He gets h2h training from Wanda Maximoff to fight Living Thor, who's still being an asshole to the omniverse and his wife, Galactus, because he's an angry drunk. Some things never change with Thor. Turns out Loki wasn't actually macking with Sif, it was an illusion. Bruce Banner discovers this while on Asgard visiting the botanical gardens. Banner has no way to get to Living Thor, who is 17 billion miles away, cause his Toyota needs an oil change. Bruce doesn't really have a plan, but knows he's got to get angry. He thinks and thinks and thinks... and then he remembers how ridiculous that a mutant like Franklin Richards exists. Hulk becomes enraged, jumps in the air and reaches the Living Thor's lair in 4.7 seconds. Meanwhile living tribunal arrives at living Thor's lair just as hulk is about to tell living Thor what's up. Living Tribunal finds a pistol that deadpool accidentally left in his pocket. He shoots living Thor knocking him out and takes away his power. He sends Thor back to asgard. Galactus follows because he wants Thor to be happy because Thor becomes mean to galactus when he's not happy. Hulk jumps to earth arriving at the Baxter building and finds everyone watching Walking Dead. He grabs Franklin and punches his face to death. Everyone is shocked and frozen. And then everyone cheers! Unfortunately, it turns out that right before hulk starts smashing Franklin's face, Cyclops in the future swaps Franklin with a humanoid robot because Cyclops is a dick, and this is marvel, so why not? Franklin returns, eats some leftover Halloween candy (unbeknownst to him he's actually eating "pocket universes" that he created while he was taking a dump in the other room), and everyone is sad. The end.

No. It would be nice to have at least one comic book couple actually remain a couple not just because of tradition but because its something different and can be used as a symbol.

Agree with you both. Reed and Sue haven't always had the best communication going on, which is so vitally important in a long term relationship; but that is also where their commitment to each other working to improve their relationship shines through. It is a rarity to see in comics these days, but as you both say it certainly makes them special and it's a great symbol of love, hope and endurance.

@crimz: That is completely wrong. Sue and Reed will stay together because they love each other. So so so so so many things have tried to break them up in the past and they never work because despite their problems Sue and Reed will never stop believing in each other because of how much they love each other.

Shame the FF is canceling. I want the FF family back to Marvel. Even though, I hope they still stick together.

I don't think they should. And for the simple reason why Marvel is cancelling the FF is such a heart break. This must have broke Stan Lee's heart as much as for many fans. This war between Marvel and Fox had got into a point where they will destroy each other. Marvel cancelling FF whereas Fox casting an African Johnny Storm. This is so sad and so messed up. Marvel's studio are hurt and decided to get back at Fox by Cancelling the FF. Oh how horrific this has been for all of us.

I'm certainly will not watch the new FF movie. I'm not a racist, but this is all wrong. Johnny and sue are brothers and a close family and is how we all grew up with. How can Fox be that stupid not knowing nothing about this family? I rather Marvel get their rights back... because they are really hurting not just each other, but globally.

DEFINITELY NOT! There's barely any long term relationships and marriages in comics these days and breaking up Reed and Sue, the longest running couple in the history of Marvel comics, will send a bad message that having a family in comics is never a good thing and the only thing interesting is breaking up couples, hooking them up with someone else and then break them up again for the sake of drama and not good storytelling.

Personally, I have been in favor of a trial separation for sometime now and am open to the possibility of a divorce. However, if it is indeed true that Marvel has actually killed off Susan Storm, then the question posed in this thread is now a moot point.

As much as I hate to say it, you make a good point. The FF have not really been one of Marvel's top seller for several decades now. If the title is brought back, the team needs a shake-up.

@catfightfan: the competition is only getting harder as well, so they do need changes.
