Marvel Announces Another CIVIL WAR

First, Marvel announced they're creating a new SECRET WARS. Now, the publisher is teasing a new CIVIL WAR! All Marvel revealed is the following image (by Adi Granov) of Iron Man and Captain America fighting over Spider-Man. It's worth noting they're all wearing the costumes they had back during the original CIVIL WAR, too.

The SECRET WARS teaser image showed the latest incarnations of Marvel's heroes fighting their older versions, so is Jonathan Hickman writing a story which has the modern heroes revisiting some of the Marvel universe's biggest events? Only time shall tell, and it looks like we won't have all of the details until the Summer of 2015. Well, what do you think is going on over at the House of Ideas? Share your thoughts below.

I like this idea. It would also fit in with the whole "time is breaking" thing Marvel has going on.

so we've got a new Secret Wars, No More Mutants, and Civil War it sure does seem like Marvel has a time travel story lined up

im starting to hate their time traveling, especially when they made it clear all their time traveling is breaking the time line

I think the headline should read more like:

"Marvel announces ANOTHER Civil War?!

Aren't people tired of seeing heroes fight each other? No? I guess I'll be over here then.

They can deny all they want...I still smell a reboot

So many events and not enough cash.

So we had:

heroes vs heroes in Civil War

Heroes vs mutant heroes in AvX

heroes vs mind controlled heroes in Axis

and now we may have...

Heroes vs Heroes...return of the event with the heroes?

Is someone at Marvel afraid to have the characters fight Dr. Doom?

@koays: Well, Doom is a Fox property now, so the answer may very well be yes.

In any case, this is fantastic, I know just the other day I was saying Marvel dosen't have nearly enough events!

@captainmarvel4ever: Well if they're afraid to tell a story because Fox may make a movie (that they'll get some profit from) out of it, then we may as well cancel all the other books and just have elderly Captain America wrestle Grizzly Bears for 17pgs of an X-Men book.

Though for our luck they'll find out Grizzly Bears are owned by Fox as well.

Hulk and Thor will get to be involved in it this time I hope.

Is anyone else just plain tired of Marvel breaking things? I mean wasn't MarvelNOW enough of a shakeup? Why can't we have a few decades keeping things more or less the same? This is just ridiculous that you can't have faith that this company will deliver good stories without threatning reboots, retcons or complete continuity rewrites. I am extremly worried about how Marvel will handle 2015, with the rumors of a New 52 style reboot I am seriously questioning following Marvel comics anymore. It is a sad day that they even threaten what used to be pretty safe since fox owned the rights, the X-Men have been a staple of marvel for the past 50 years, and now rumors of another reboot destorying all that history is enough to make me physcially ill. At least I still have Image comics to fall back on, they are still not popular enough to find financial gain of screwing with core fans...

OK we are rebooting right? That's got to be why we are doing secret wars and civil wars (and no more mutants to as someone else said) again?

Marvel : Reharsh the old idea. Literally now we have No More Mutants, Secret Wars, Civil Wars. What next ? Secret Invasion, Skrull Kree War etc

More reasons to hate Tony Stark. I thought that was all covered the last time, what more can they have him do? Slip Sue Richards something and take her to bed?

We are trying to guess what they are going to be doing. Didn't know facts came into it.

So we've just started Axis and Spider-Verse

Then after that is Time Runs Out or whatever

Then we have Black Vortex coming after Planet Venom

After that is Secret Wars (3?)

After all those is now Civil War

Marvel needs to tone down the events or else I'm going to have to start dropping books. I don't have the time nor money to keep up to dat with all of these events..

I have no idea at this point.

I love how so much criticism is thrown Marvel's way for doing too many events, and they saw all that and went "y'know what? F*** it! Not only are we gonna keep over-saturating the market with constant events and crossovers, but we're also going to start doing ones we've already done all over again! Suck it, nerds!"

As if doing an event for a second time wasn't unoriginal enough, it looks like it's also going to be (most likely) done via time travel.

Only when people make them it seems. Not a fan? Don't spend money on it. Hopefully it will fall under expectations and they will focus on real storytelling over "events"

Personally I'm tired of hero vs hero, characters doing stuff so far outside of their personality that they may as well not be the character, and mandatory tie in stuff/cash grabs..

Civil War may well be the worst event I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

This has a chance to be quirky and meta, but I'm positive it's just going to be a dumb event with a concept that already starts off tired and played out.

Well. I loved the first one, but...

Marvel, just leave it alone.

This could be a collection of sorts for that event or a tie in to serect wars.

As long as none of these stupid events affect my monthly books (like New Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, or Deadpool) I say do what you want in these dumb events.

But for once I would like a good event comic where its the heroes actually UNITING against a great evil instead of fighting each other, you know to have them ACT LIKE FREAKING HEROES?!

In all seriousness I'm a little excited by this news, as I really liked the original civil war, but thought it could have been more fleshed out on both sides.

I as well feel that this won't be a full event in of itself but just a nod to what universes and conflicts we will encounter in the Secret wars.

Those character designs are so out of plausibility for the main 616 characters to find themselves in this situation. My best bet is that this is just a small conflict miniseries or tie in to the bigger event.

Secret War just seems like a multiverse battle. Same hero, different time period, different world all fighting. I mean that Spider-Man is ultimate after all. Kind of looks like Super Smash Marvel to me. As for Civil War, I'm excited but what else can they possible fight about! Who got to keep Spider-Man in the divorce!?! Figured they remembered to get a prenup this time around.

Well if we are going to have another Civil War, can Namor have a more prominent role in it?? I feel like he's been treated like total garbage since AvX. The Namor in New Avengers, I don't even recognize.
