Fox Orders Pilot of DC Comics' Lucifer

Television shows based on comic book properties are the new hot trend, and it's starting to open up a bit more into the world of Vertigo comics. With Constantine just ending its first season, and I, Zombie debuting in March, a new Vertigo based property is now coming to Fox: Lucifer.

According to Variety, Fox has ordered a pilot order for Lucifer. Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and Len Wiseman have been attached at executive producers of this new hourlong drama, with Wisemen directing the pilot.

The pilot, based on the Vertigo character was created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg, spun out of the pages of SANDMAN, into his own series by Mike Carey, Chris Weston, James Hodgkins, and Daniel Vozzo. The pilot will follow Lucifer, the lord of Hell, as he adondons his kingdom to go to L.A. where he helps the LAPD take down criminals.

No news yet on when the pilot will hit television, but you can still check out the new CW show I, Zombie, based off the Vertigo series, when it airs on March 17th.

I was going to say something about Fox News bashing a show like this until I saw it was being made by Fox.

DC is just throwing $hit at the wall now to see if it sticks. This show sounds horrible.

It's col that he's getting his own show; but after reading what it's going to be about I'll give this show a much harder pass than Supergirl and Krypton. DC needs to slow down on these shows and start focusing on quality over quantity.

Another police procedural show from FOX, talk about being a one trick pony.

A show about a devilish man helping the police solve crimes while also furthering his own goals and sick fantasies.....where have I heard of that before?....

...oh right, NBC did it with HANNIBAL!!!!! That is a show better than anything FOX has done in years.

It's such a crying shame. The idea of a show about the devil leaving hell out of boredom and to further rebel against his creator and instead opens a piano bar in the human world, while also seeking to build his own universe where he is God could have been a thought provoking and engaging show.

But nope, we get The Devil catching criminals because hurting bad people is just what he likes to do. What a wasted opportunity.

So...

Is the show going to be called Lucifer?

Because there might be some controversy in that regard.

Kind of reminds me of the end of the Buu saga where every single person on earth was chanting Mr. Satan's name (Satan) while they were giving Goku energy.

Let's be honest, the second we heard it was going to be produced by Fox we knew the show was doomed.

Not looking forward to it. All it's going to do is make my life harder when I try to recommend the original version to my friends.
