'Ghostbusters' Cast Revealed

Director Paul Feig is bringing the Ghostbusters back to theaters, but he's bringing the franchise back with twist: the team is all-female! Over the past several months, there's been plenty of rumors about who will put on a Proton Pack and trap some ghosts, but now the director is putting an end to the speculating by announcing the four leads! Ladies and gentlemen, meet your new Ghostbusters.

Apparently the studio is negotiating with the actresses, but considering the director tweeted this, it seems likely these four will be the stars. Even though these actresses are known for their work in comedy -- McKinnon and Jones are currently on SNL, Wiig's a former SNL member, and McCarthy has done plenty of comedy -- the director said he wants to make this one every bit as scary as it is funny. Maybe -- just maybe -- the return of the Ghostbusters will bring about the return of Ecto Cooler. Okay, probably not. If you feel like enjoying some Ghostbusters before the movie drops, we strongly recommend picking up the trades for the Mass Hysteria! story arc.

I honestly thought Kristen Wiig was Jennifer Aniston when I first looked.

Kristen Wig and Leslie Jones I'm happy about the other two not so much.

I guess wherever there's Paul Feig around, you know Melissa McCarthy isn't far behind. Nevertheless, this should be good.

Kristen Wiig!!!!!!! Super stoked about this film now. I'm preparing myself for laughter and ghost bustage.

Melissa McCarthy would have been okay right after Bridesmaids, but now there's an over saturation of her and just like Kevin Hart the schtick is getting old/annoying

I'm completely open to adding women to the Ghostbusters team, but what was the point in making it an all female cast? Just from a marketing stand point. It's going to be a tough sell to a young male audience with figures or Halloween costumes?

Without Harold Ramis adding to this script and story and Bill Murray refusing to appear in it, I don't consider this a GHOSTBUSTERS movie. I was more interested in the concept of the older Ghostbusters passing on the torch to a new generation.

Don't have a problem with the casting, but I don't have any interest in another Ghostbusters movie.

Kate McKinnon is hilarious on SNL.

I don't think I even know who Leslie Jones is.

It would be nice to see girls dressed as ghostbusters next halloween instead of the usual female costumes such as sexy______________ (fill in the blank with whatever noun you like.)

Literally could not be less enthused for this.... Melissa McCarthy is not and never has been funny. Kristen Wig is tolerable at best.

I really dislike Melissa McCarthy she is the same character in all her movies. The fat jokes are getting old.

This could either be very good, or very bad.

On one hand, all four actresses have been involved with some pretty good comedic stuff. One the other hand, this has political correctness written all over it.

I have no problem with the all female casting/reboot, except to say an original idea probably would have been more interesting instead of rebooting a classic.

I'm well aware of that, and I at no point claimed otherwise. Putting your assumption of my remarks aside, I do like the idea of seeing girls dressed up for Halloween as Ghostbusters. I was stating my confusion on they would cut off half a marketing demographic, in place of hitting both by simply mixing up the genders of the cast.

they should have have Aubrey Plaza and Chelsea Handler instead of lesile and Kate Mckinnon.

I'm a big fan of Ghostbusters and the first two films but...I just don't feel excited for this.

More than half the cast are comedians and are from SNL so we are gonna have more comedy then action...way more comedy.

Why??? Seriously they couldn't get Emma stone, rosario dawson, Olivia wilde and Kate Upton to be the leading cast. I was ok with the Ghostbusters being all girls but this cast is just stupid. I can only hope Dan Aykroyd and Erie Hudson r the mentors who pass on the proton packs.

Is this a reboot or a continuation? Do we know that yet?
