I know their are more crises in the DCU but these are among the most popular so lets go with these.
Comicvine Poll: What is your favorite DC Crisis?
I can't believe Identity Crisis is doing that well. Much as its a pretty good introduction to the DCU (you get a little of everybody), it was really a terrible storyline and none of the clues made any sense.
They figured out that there was no propane residue and Atom checked that not a single carpet fiber was disturbed and the solution was that somebody had stood on the carpet and used a flamethrower? How does that make any sense?
If Robin didn't even tell his best friends in Young Justice and his girlfriend of several years Spoiler his secret identity how the hell was the Atom's wife supposed to know it?
And how bout Captain Boomerang turning into a fat american with a ponytail overnight? Or killing off fun characters like Sue Dibney? Or the Justice League beating up the reformed Heat Wave? Or Firestorm getting stabbed to death? Or Jean getting sent to Arkham even though she's not from and didn't commit any crimes in Gotham City? Or Atom giving Sue a frigging crossbow to protect her against what they thought was a teleporting flame wielding bad guy?
Its definately the worst story on the list except perhaps Final Crisis.
Picked up Identity Crisis based on the recommendations in this thread. Read it. Hated it. A more pretentious, less epic who-gives-a-damn whodunit can scarcely be imagined. It's a fitting setup for the even greater disaster of Infinite Crisis.
As for my personal preference, it remains the only crisis worth a damn: Crisis on Infinite Earths. CoIE changed the goddamn world forever. The mercenary, pathetic modern Crises can't even compare to what is easily one of the greatest moments in comics history.
