Poll X-men (2000) or Spider-man (2002) (27 votes)

Spider-man 52%
X-men 33%
They both sucked 7%
They're equal to each other 7%

Ah yes, two of the movies that made comic book movies good. These two are classics are the ones that kicked off the superhero renaissance. But which one was better? Which truly started the line of blockbusters?

I can't pick between them, but I feel like Spider-Man really started the superhero movie trend.

X-Men of course.

A slew of movies that succeeded it tried to apply the more practical "realistic" environment like the X-Men film did. Even the almighty Christopher Nolan cited Singers X-Men as an influence when making the Batman films.

Both are pretty terrible, but I'd take Spider-Man because of Willem Dafoe.

@those_eyes: I hated him long before Spider-Man 3. His Spider-Man is boring and only cracks one (lame) joke per movie, his Peter Parker is either crying or completely bland. He had horrible chemistry with MJ and was just a bad Spidey overall.

Spiderman 2002 started it all for me. Xmen might have been first but sm is the movie I remember since I was born. I had the videogame, stuffed animals, etc. It got me into superheroes.

Spider-Man holds up a lot better. X-Men is still a good movie but it shows a lot of dated special effects. Spidey does too but not to the same extent.
