Hm. I don't know. Possibly the same reason DC fanboys feel the need to do the exact same thing with Marvel''s movies and characters.

I don't know if you think that only Marvel has fanboys that do this, because i've seen DC fanboys that do the same thing, especially whenever a DC movie came out. It seems that fanboys do these things out of insecurities and such.

DC and Marvel fanboys are sad and need to get a life. Proper fans tend to appreciate the finer points of each other's universe even if they have a favourite. I put myself in that category having about a 50/50 or 60/40 split of DC and Marvel characters in my top ten rostum...probably 60/40 to DC just now.

I hated Nolan's Bat movies and loved Man of Steel.
I thought Captain America was boring and Thor 2 was predictable but I loved Iron Man and Avengers.
Both sides have their good stuff and their bad.

As for the thread, the Marvel peeps are pissed because DC is getting their s**t together and Marvel might not be top movie dog for long.

@the_stegman:

funny memes

and although I realize none of that is to be taking seriously ..

I want to know why people think dark/gritty and fun are mutually exclusive concepts? Its like the biggest argument people bring up when discussing Marvel vs DC films. When Joker is running around causing chaos...that was. so. much. FUN! When Peter beats the shit out of Kingpin in prison...its. so. much. fun.

yeah word. Those moments where they are almost scene-for-scene from comics get me giddy too. Bane breaking Batman's neck or the MoS flight scene when Jor-El is quoting All Star Superman.

The feels!

Besides. Marvel's been dark on occasion. When Stane paralyzes Tony and monologues with that chilling tone of his? That was pretty freaking terrifying...and fun.

Whatevs.

@fallschirmjager: Avengers may be my favorite Marvel film because of the sheer epicness, but when it comes to being just a plain old, good movie, Iron Man is my favorite, that movie was great all the way through. And yeah, Stane was intense.

DC fans are just jelly because Marvel meticulously planned out their universe and future. Calmly and adequately putting together their films and actually getting success. Then moving on to fry even bigger fish and making one of the biggest hits with the Avengers. Meanwhile DC has to play catch up like someones irrelevant little brother to achieve what Marvel has. It aint easy pimpin'.

In all seriousness, I enjoy movies from both companies.

I think from a story telling Iron Man was the best. Though the 3rd act in avengers was pretty baus, the rest of the film kind of bores me though.

Thor 1 is also so underrated imo. The whole two brothers competing for a father's love is a story as old (probably older) as the bible and whatnot. It was really good. If Thor/Jane didn't suck I would have liked it more :P

Captain America 2 looks like it has the potential to beat all of them though. After Spider-Man, its what I'm most excited for.

@fallschirmjager: If I had to list the Marvel Studio films (not Sony or Fox) in terms of being my favorites, it would go:

1. Avengers >= Iron Man

2. Captain America

3. Thor

4. Thor 2

5. Iron Man 2

6. Incredible Hulk

7. Iron Man 3

Why does something have to boil down to hating and fanboyism because someone might have a preference for one company's products over another's?

Because my opinion is absolute, everyone else with a differing one is wrong. This mentallity tends to define most people, as they scramble to justify it and have it permeate everything in life.

Something I wonder is why people hate the new DC movies for being different. Do they want the same superhero movies again and again without change or progress?

I won't say that I'd say what you said, but I can vouch for it.

I - a Marvelite, get really pissy when DC fans say "Avengers was good but it was nothing special" - seriously? That's like saying Man of Steel - the movie they treat like a God, isn't special either. Avengers was the merging of brands and the inspiration that other companies/studios have now followed.

DC does have some catching up to do. They're doing great at the moment (of course with MoS 2), but for some reason DC fans say that Warner Bros is doing something ENTIRELY unique compared to Marvel's plans... Not really. People say that Batman vs Superman is different from Avengers because it's (only) a "duo team up movie" - still the same damn thing.

Sorry if I sound arrogant (in a thread like this :P).

Exactly. The irony is that Marvel movies owe an huge debt to the original Superman the Movie, Superman II and Tim Burton's Batman. Those films established the plots for both the origin stories and the sequels, seriously Donner and Burton are in everything from Spiderman to The Avengers. And another irony is that DC/WB broke this formula with Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Man of Steel and they'll be doing this again with this upcoming DC film. Change and progress will help to keep the genre alive. If you want it to be Nostalgic go back and watch whatever makes you happy. But change is coming to the genre.

@lyrafay: Umm... People hate Marvel films for being different from DC. DC owes a huge debt to X-Men (as Christopher Nolan himself stated awhile back). As much as you and many other people hate (or don't) to admit it, X-Men started a whole other side of CBM's which Batman Begins is taking credit for.

People are going overboard with "Humor sucks, Marvel needs a Dark Knight film!" or "DC is so depressing, Superman shouldn't even be dark and gritty!"

I'm a dc fangirl and I don't care much for dc films and prefer marvel's movies. I chalk it up to one company telling the stories the way I want to see them.

You know, right after seeing Man of Steel, I heard a Marvel fangirl say "I don't even know why DC even tries with Superman, he can't start a cinematic universe, like Ironman....."

And, Then I smile and walk away. If the fanboys/girls are making fun of something, it just means they're threaten. I never understood, why people like to pick sides, like it's football or something.

@v_scarlotte_rose: Please stop with your unneeded ****. Nobody needs to say "fanboys and fangirls." It sounds terrible and when you say "fanboys" everybody understands that both girls and guys are included in the conversation, unless someone specifically says that they are not (which would be stupid.)

Stop acting like Sheldon, please.
