Why didn't Captain America kill Iron Man in Civil War movie?

SPOILERS WARNING

I saw the movie today and one thing is interesting: Cap did not kill Iron Man at the end. He could have brought the shield down on his neck or stabbed him in the head, but he goes for armor area.

Iron man was evil and dangerous and trying to kill the Captain America and his friends. Why did Captain America not kill him so he could end it?

The MCU won't allow anyone to die.

But seriously now,why would Cap of all people kill Tony?

He was a danger and actively tried to kill Cap and Bucky at the end, yet Cap let him live. What if Tony tries to come after Cap and kill him?

Cap had no problem trying to Kill Red Skull and the Crossbones and other HYDRA, yet he lets Tony go. It doesn't make sense.

Tony was trying to apprehend them not kill them lol. That would've been messed up if that was the case.

Why didn't Captain America KISS Iron Man?

That's the real question.

Tony only tried to kill Bucky at the end when he found out that WS was responsible for his parents deaths. For the majority of the movie he was just trying to arrest them

@avenging_x_bolt: he tried to kill them many times. He even shot Sam with his deadly repulsor weapon when Sam tries to help Roadey.

Because Cap has a lot more self control than Tony does.

The same question could be said About Iron-Man. How come Ironman didn't kill Cap by blasting a hole in him when he didn't have his shield on hand.

@stormphoenix: Because Iron Man is significantly weaker than Cap. Cap is in physical peak condition and Iron Man can't fight without getting winded. He is also not the brightest bulb in the box.

What would Captain America gain in killing Iron Man? It would make it worse for him, since he already was wanted for aiding the escape of Winter Soldier, a wanted fugitive who murdered countless people and officials over the past 60 or so years. Even though Iron Man was trying to kill Winter Soldier when he found out that his parents death were cause by him, Captain America had more restraint and his morals were the reason he decided to fight back to prevent any more death.

On the other note, has anyone seen the new Doctor Strange trailer? I was so excited when it came out, and from we've seen so far. The movie has a lot of potential to be the next Iron Man or Guardians of the Galaxy. The ending scene with the wi-fi password had me dying of laughter.

@luminosity1: Out of his suit yes Tony is weak, but it doesn't change the fact that Tony did have the upper hand and had the chance to Shoot a repulsar Ray in Steve's face when had the chance, but didn't take it.

They both had chances to kill each other, but oddly enough they didn't cease the opportunity.

Cap would have gained true freedom from Iron Man's oppressive rule and the Avengers would be released from prison. Bucky would also be safe again as would the world at large.

But, that's what doesn't make sense. He had the chance to dispose of an enemy, but didn't take it. By letting Tony live, he's endangering hundreds of others.

@luminosity1: But it's not in Steve's nature to kill, well in the comics that is. I do see your point though, but Bucky needed to be put away for his crimes.

...Because Cap nor Tony actually wanted the other dead. Iron-man only wanted to bring in Cap. The only person he wanted dead was Bucky. Cap didn't want to be brought in,He didn't want his friend to die neither. It's not that hard to follow. It's why no killed anyone in the airport.

@luminosity1: And again keeping Bucky alive can also endanger hundreds of lives. The dude will go into a killing spree if you just mention the secret 5 words. I'm not saying they should kill Bucky, but he MUST be put under cervalence.

Lol, the hell would he do that for? I'd have simultaneously cried and been in hysterics if he'd straight decapped him with the shield, the thought of that happening is genuinely hilarious, they'd get an R-rating quick. The tears of the children in the cinema would have been delicious.

when did he try to kill scarlet witch and antman? Cap didnt try to kill cross bones he punched him repeatedly. i assume you are young or just bored anyways have a nice day

Well, they could've gotten around it by showing him bringing the shield down on his head, then cutting away so you know what happened, but they didn't need to show anything too graphic for a PG 13 movie.

Did you watch the airport fight? He was launching missiles at people left and right. Not to mention he locked Wanda up against her will and told Vision to use force if she tried to leave.

The main reason is there was no reason to do it, Cap was never looking to kill Tony, I don't know where you've got this idea from, Cap knew that in the long term, Iron Man wasn't gonna make a big long-term play out of killing Bucky, it was a crime passionel, Tony was bloodthirsty against all logic, Steve just wanted to end the fight, not kill him.

That's what I really liked about the end of the movie. Even after everything that happened between them, after Tony split the team and Cap hid the truth about his parents death, they are still friends. That's why a fight between the two was tragic, because they didn't want it to come to that and they certainly didn't want to kill each other over it.

LOLLLL Holy shit I can't stop laughing. Imagine if that's how the movie ended. Cap just brings the shield down and smashes Tony's face like Game of Thrones. Then the credits roll!

@luminosity1: Use force doesn't automatically mean kill. He is physically stronger than her, you could restrain someone without ripping their head off. In the end though her powers overwhelmed him anyway. If you feel that way though just go ask him I suppose, maybe he will share his thought process and what was going on through his mind.

but back to your main question why would cap kill him? At what point did he say he wanted to kill him? He didn't try to kill bucky either when bucky was brain washed. He doesn't kill hsi friends no matter what they are doing to hurt him. He fights comrades to disable, not kill
