The Wrecking Crew. They are suppose to be Thor villains, and at one point in time (basically the 70's), were actually treated with respect by writers. All 4 of them are 50 toners, with the Wrecker himself able to increase his strength above the 100 ton range. Yet since the 80's they've jobbed more and more in more and more embarrassing ways. In recent years the entire team has been beaten by street levelers. Just embarrassing.

Too many to count. Notable examples.

Superman, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine, Silver Surfer, Sentry, Thanos, Dr. Doom, Ghost Rider, the Wrecking Crew and many others.

Kakashi in Naruto and Toshiru Hitsugaya in Bleach

Worf in Star Trek.

Reptile, Baraka, Sheeva and Smoke in Mortal Kombat.

@CaioTrubat: Since when is Wolverine a consistent jobber?

Avatar image for inverno
#13 Posted by Inverno (13757 posts) - - Show Bio

@Strider92: Alright he, the Hulk, Thor and Superman doesn't loose that constantly they are usually the first ones to go down to show how powerful their opponent is. Its called "The Worf Effect" :P

Avatar image for strider1992

@CaioTrubat: I agree the others do that (Thor is a prime example) but I don't think Wolverine is used as a benchmark for an opponents power very often (if at all).

I'm tempted to say Martian Manhunter. All the other characters tend to kick rear on a regular basis as a redeeming factor. Manhunter hasn't had anything very good since... what? Brightest Day? Blackest Night? No evil shall escape my... Sorry. Sure he's got all the powers (and then some!) of Superman, but he still tends to get beat on a regular basis.

The Wrecking Crew are easily the biggest jobbers in comics ever. you have a group of guys sharing magical powers, all strong as hell, and pretty savage, but still unable to beat anyone (well except sasquatch that one time).

Taskmaster is up there too as he should be able to put anyone down in a hand to hand/weapon to weapon fight but always finds himself retreating or getting beat (travesty it is)

This is too true. Apparently anyone slightly above Olympic level makes bullets obsolete.

I know right! Once they defeated the entire Defenders (Hulk, Dr.Strange, Luke Cage, etc.) Now I see them being beaten by Toxin.

The First of the Fallen he gets beaten so casually every time and his entire history makes it confusing when he was ever supposed to be considered a threat, he was a joke right from his first appearance but he's supposed to be considered some ancient primordial evil?

Even tho I like him I think The Atom Al Pratt from Earth 2 is a jobber. He couldn't make Hawkgirl, Flash and Green Lantern follow his orders dispite him being in charge. They just ignored him.

1) Galactus

2) Darkseid

3) Thor

4) Everyone in comics when it comes to Superman.

If we can count the animated universe, Martian Manhunter was the KING jobber on Justice League. Seemingly every time he'd try to read a mind he'd get some backlash & pass out. That, or he'd get some minor electric shock and become a puddle of goo. It would not have been shocking to see the other members of the JL stop & look in John's direction as a fight began, waiting for him to be taken out before they proceed.

@SupremeHyperion: Agree the Wrecking Crew. I can't take The Taskmaster seriously, he looks like a cheap Green Goblin rip-off.

Taskmaster and Juggernaut always spring to my mind when this topic comes up. Both have suffered from this on numerous occasions. As someone else said, Taskmaster should be nigh-unbeatable in a straight up hand to hand fight. And the Juggernaut used to be the bad guy that even heavy-hitters like Thor and Hulk were unable to even put a dent in.

Darkseid. He shows up a bit too frequently and so many writers think Superman can challenge him. Darkseid shouldn't be opposed by anything except other New Gods, cosmics, or very large teams.

@FiMFTW: Well they haven't really jobbed that much since Matt Smith was introduced (apart from there infomus new designs) but what I mean't by currently I mean't by from somewhere like from 2006 to now. but I think you know what I mean by Anti-Monitor (currently) aswell as the other ones I mentioned.

Is Rhino a jobber or just very stupid?

jobber at urban dictionary:

* A professional wrestler who frequently and deliberately loses matches

.* The act of losing is called jobbing and a frequent loser is referred to as a jobber. It is a mark of disrespect to refer to a wrestler as a jobber, as it implies they are a failure in their career. The term has entered into popular culture, to mean a loser or someone who is worthless, as well as its Italian equivalent, jabroni, a phrase that was made popular by The Rock. Former alternate terms included journeyman (because of jobbers being hired for individual matches and not having contracts with the major promotions), enhancement talent (due to their usage to enhance the stature of their opponent) and ham-n-egger (in reference to the amount of money they make buys them just enough for a Ham and Egg breakfast).Despite the negative sense of the word, some wrestlers have made a career out of jobbing. Barry Horowitz and Steve Lombardi (better known as the "Brooklyn Brawler") made a career out of jobbing, primarily in the World Wrestling Entertainment.A slightly higher position is jobber to the stars, which is a wrestler who still defeats pure jobbers but who consistently loses to top-level or up-and-coming stars. This often happens to popular faces towards the end of their careers, including Tony Garea and Tito Santana. Triple H was given this role from 1996-1997 by Vince McMahon as punishment for the infamous MSG Incident.
