This is an off-shoot series from the Incal that tells the history of the Metabaron dynasty, how they became enormously wealthy, how their family nearly died out, and about the main character's struggles to rear a strong son to carry on their line.
I thought it was cool actually, I enjoyed it, didn't pull any punches and was quite unique (its kinda' reminiscent of Dune).
A new superhero team is formed to deal with global threats, they have a teleport bridge that allows them to get anywhere in the world in seconds, it helps them deal with a lot of carnage and destruction from various mass-murdering threats.
Eh it was ok I guess, I'd actually read the first few issues of this before and it never really caught my imagination, there just doesn't seem like much time is given to explore the characters or build up their personalities, maybe I should've read Stormwatch first.
I probably sound a bit down on it, but tbh it was pretty good, lots of action and such, some memorable set-pieces, good dialogue. I just think books like this probably benefited a lot from Miracleman and Zenith being out of print for so long, I also think maybe Mark Millar's Ultimates was influenced a lot by this so it probably didn't help that I read that before getting around to checking this out.
This is a science fiction book about Earth being brought into like a big federation of different Alien species, unfortunately shortly afterwards a far-right isolationist group get into office and we end up misusing all of the alien tech we've been given and use it to take over other worlds, the federation steps in after Earth has killed many Aliens and dissolves the Earth government and replaces it with their own choices. The book is set way after this has happened with the main character being made the first Human space policeman, part of a group that polices the universe. Because of Earth's previous attacks he is viewed with distrust by his Alien colleagues.
I liked it, there was a nice amount of world-building, the character designs are memorable and some of the Alien (not heavy-handed) politics was interesting, I guess if I was to compare it to something it would be Star Wars and Babylon 5.
