Because let's face it, a lot of comic book super heroes have very bland, kind of generic personalities that aren't really fleshed out. Then in the hands of some writers certain characters become much more defined and we are given much larger looks into their personalities and motivations. So what characters(s) are the most interesting to you and if you need to specify under which writer(s) do so. Thanos is one to me who was very interesting for a while but then sort of became a caricature of himself(even under Starlin). I would have loved to see him truly get over his obsession with death and find a new purpose to his existence. Instead he just kept going back to her like a lovesick puppy instead of moving forward. Wolverine can be very interesting also because he isn't that into the whole super hero thing and a lot of stories can be told which have to do with his long, semi checkered past where he isn't 'Wolverine' so much as he is Logan.
What super hero has the most interesting personality?
I'd probably say it's a combination of 4 to me: number one would be the 90s version of Azrael (Jean Paul Valley). He was basically a computer geek who discovered that he was brainwashed to be an assassin. He would have to fight his killer instincts and alternate Azrael personality continuiously and he would hallucinate and see visions on the regular. When he was Batman during Knightfall he was just as, if not more crazy than most of the villians in Gotham, which to me made him a lot more interesting than Bruce ever was. I believe Denny O'Neil wrote most of Azrael's exploits.
Next i would say Apocalyspe. He was probably the strongest willed and determinded villian in comic book history. He isn't the strongest supervillian in the Marvel Universe but he definately is the most ingeuinuative. His centuries of experience, genius, Celestial technology and knowledge of future events made him a very interesting character to my opinion.
Next i would say, the 90s version of Superboy (Kon-El) written by Karl Keasel. He was so arrogant and full of himself like a lot of popular teenagers usually are. It was just made worse for the fact that he was naive from being a newly born clone with most of Superman's powers.
Last but not least, i would say Deadpool. His personality is a little cliche when it comes to ecentric superheroes but his personality is so crazy and all over the place that it just works anyway. He's like a one man episode of Family Guy...Ol' Wade is hands down the funniest character in comics.
You guys gotta broaden your knowlegde of comics...Barry Allen, Matt Murdock, Reed Richards, Phantom Stranger and Thor have cliche and boring/stale personalities. Superman and Steve Rogers are like the "Jesus wholesome guys" of their comic universes. Their not super interesting personalitywise but they inspire the most good and morals
@black_panther18: Yes, Wally West (pre-Flashpoint) is way more interesting than Barry is. Peter Parker was up until the late 90s/early 2000s but now he seems pretty bland to me

@heroup2112: Gah! I love Nightcrawler. He's experienced the worst of humanity, but doesn't allow himself to become cold and jaded. He tries to see the best in things, but doesn't hide from reality and harsh truths. He's deeply spiritual, but doesn't impose his beliefs on others.
A perfect balance between altruism, charisma, and human fallibility.
Raven, duh.

Interesting is of course subjective, to each their own etc.
Why are so many people saying Barry Allen? He is a boring character and is nowhere near as interesting as Wally.
