What Is New York Like In DC Universe Does it even EXIST?

Gotham seems to have all but replaced New York in DC comics. Metropolis too seems to replace it. Seems that DC replaces a lot of places on Earth with fictional ones. What say ye?

I'm sure I've seen New York mentioned in a DC comic. I can't remember which one though. I'll let you know if I find it.

New York still exists, Gotham and Metropolis are just extra cities. There is a map somewhere, I think Gotham is in New Jersey and Metropolis is in Delaware, or something like that.

Correct. (Or at least, I subscribe to this notion).

NYC does exist - the Teen Titans were based there for a long while. DC's cities are inspired by real-life cities, but often do not replace them (not sure about Central & Keystone Cities though (based on both Kansas Cities) - don't know if they replace their inspiration). In JLA/Avengers, I'm pretty sure they state that DC's world is bigger (implying population - not size - because of their made up cities being very huge (I believe there's been mentions of Gotham & Metropolis' populations & them both being higher than real-life NYC. Coast City was a bit below 3-million in later (pre52) GL - so that'd be ranked very high too).

If you can show me proof of a super ever saving anyone in NY in DC universe I will believe you. I have yet to see any. So that is where all the supervillains should live. Less stress or at least less cosmic beat downs LOL

It appeared in Morrison's JLA run. Plastic Man is suppose to live there, or at least at the time he did.

the Teen Titans had a base there, Power Girl lived there and so did Nightwing prior to R.I.P.

Pretty sure there's a winter scene there with Guy and Tora during GLC.

Still I have yet to see them save anyone in NY so there is a fair chance your a goner there if a supervillain has a bone to pick with you in NY.

Power Girl solo was set in Manhattan. ^_^

Yes New York exists in the DCNU. The Teen Titans were based out of there and Tim Drake (3rd Robin, current Red Robin) lives there in a penthouse in Lex Towers.

when supergirl was fighting the worldkillers I am pretty sure that the batttle took place in NYC.

Static moved to and operated in New York in his New 52 series.

Nightwing was there for a bit.

Justice League International has/had (not sure) an HQ there.

Wasn't Johns whole JSA run based in NY?

Kyle Rayner lives there, and the first battle in New Guardians takes place in Times Square.

Of course it exists, it just doesn't have a million heroes stationed there like certain other universes.

I finished v2 & 3 of JSA not too long ago, and I completely forgot that example. Yea, the JSA & their brownstone in NYC.

@inferiorego: Yea I've been hearing that recently, but I had no idea. Pretty cool. I've never been a Nightwing fan but might have to give this a shot. Seeing how I'm currently trying to expand my comic horizons anyway seems like a good fit.

DC NY is just thankful they don't have to deal with all the god damn superheroes.

n52 teen titans and Superboy was there during the new year's eve. actually, Im pretty sure most new years eve comics probably happen in New York, case you know, party

The final battle of the Sinestro Corps War was in NYC.
