Was Batman v. Superman an objectively good movie?
Theatrical cut 100% NO, is a disjointed mess that felt and is a uncompleted movie.
The UC did lot of thing I thought Snyder would have trouble with relatively well with setting up the JL, introducing Batman into the universe well, and world building. That being said there lot of aspect he got wrong, like Superman in general, and the vs part of the movie, or the V. Is a stunning film to look at, and is overall can be entertaining, but is also three hour. So overallI can see either side, but I am leaning more on the "is decent film" objectively since the only reason I said is a good film is because I like Batman.
its art.....its always subjective
No, and no not the ultimate cut either. Actually... I've only seen the ultimate cut so the theatrical cut could be, but isn't. Honestly the critical response tells you it isn't critics are on average so much more objective than random moviegoers since thats kinda their job.
*sigh*
*leaves thread*
Lemme put it this way. While I still feel that the movie gets a lot of undeserved flak, the ultimate cut wasn't as good as people were making it out to be. But I still have faith they will do much better, what with Affleck having far more creative control henceforth
Objectively I consider it to be a decent movie that just suffers heavily from being the middle-child between Man of Steel and Justice League. Because it ends up having one foot in Man of Steel with it playing off the fallout from that movie, and having one foot in Justice League as it is the vehicle that sets up that movie with very little story that's uniquely its own. Which stops it from being good.
What stops it from being bad is basically everything else, it's pretty to look at, the characters aren't complete idiots like they are over at Marvel 90% of the time, and you can actually see why they have the positions they do, the story is interesting and actually relevant... and like I've said before, compared to the CW main fight, the one in BvS actually was a fight worth seeing, not just a punch-up between drunks in a carpark.
It is a very good movie.
It's just a shame that critics and fans temporarily lost their marbles when they got a very different take on these characters than what they wanted, and because it wasn't a lighthearted MCU romp like they wanted. I still feel like that's the reality of it. BvS shouldn't be any lower than 60-70% on Rotten Tomatoes, at worst, especially when movies like Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 2 are able to average above 65% (which, I happen to like both of those movies and think their RT averages are pretty spot on, but neither is as good a film as BvS).
@omnicrono: how dare you think Iron Man 2 is good. Grab pitch fork, your opinion is not allowed.
Define good.
I think there's enough in the UC to say that it's objectively good. Some stuff doesn't make sense without comic knowledge, but it's mostly a coherent story that looks great and has some great scenes.
@pipxeroth: u do kno how stupid that sounds right? Nd dude there's no objectivity in art. U thinking it's bad is just ur opinion nd every other person who thinks so. I think it's good
No film is objectively good.
The theater version is a poorly constructed film imo, and because of that I can see why it is labeled as not good by many. There's so much story to tell, that for it to be chopped to all hell like that was a poor decision I feel, and the movie suffered for it.
The Ultimate Edition is very good I feel with the extra content sprinkled throughout the film to explain things, and give certain moments/scene some better context. I like the Ultimate Edition with extra stuff so much that I can easily place it in my top ten all-time comicbook movies list.

You're impyling BVS bears any sort of semblance to art. That in itself is foolhardy.
Its like calling an under cooked, dirty and crapped on slab of meat "food". You're just doing a disrespect to anything that could be considered the standard for it.
Lol no.
There's nothing wrong with enjoying a 'bad' movie, but you have to at least be able to admit that it's bad.
Who even cares about being objective? If you like the characters it is a good movie. If not, you probably shouldn't even be watching superhero movies in the first place.
In order for something to be objectively good it has to have some type of achievements, and BvS falls short at that. The biggest thing it's known for is being one the most talked about comic films ever, and not in a good way - a controversial way.
So no, it's not objectively good. And this is coming from someone who enjoyed the film somewhat.
@nerevarine_11: well, when u put it like that. makes u sound really stupid. u not liking a movie has no effect on it being art. u sound ignorant
