Blade is returning in a new Marvel series, which was announced a couple weeks ago, but he's not alone. Joining him is Fallon Grey. Who is she and what does she have to do with Blade? We talked to the writer Tim Seeley about the upcoming new series from Marvel, debuting this October, which takes place in the new Marvel Universe, after the events on SECRET WARS.
Comic Vine: Who is Fallon Grey?
Tim Seeley: She's the co-star of the new Blade series. She's in high school, and she's pretty awesome. Everything else will be revealed in the book!
CV: What is it like taking the "popular kid" and completely turning her life on its head?
TS: It feels very natural. As in my own experience, the popular kids in school were often the ones with the most problems too.
CV: Is Fallon going full-on vampire hunter in this series, following in the steps of her father?
TS: We'll see!
CV: What can you tell us about the forces hunting Fallon?
TS: It's a secret enclave of mad scientists, who have been searching for a way to remove the weaknesses from the night people. They call themselves Black Genus.
CV: Does she know who her father is (both as her father and as Blade) and what role will he play in this book?
TS: Nope! But that will be the story going forward as Fallon has to learn to live with this stranger in her life.
CV: What kind of connection will this book have to Blade's history? Can we expect nods to the past, like either Hannibal King or the Nightstalkers?
TS: Some, but not right away. I don't think most readers remember that stuff anyway, and as much as I might like it, I'm going to make sure we don't drag our new, fresh scenario down with too much continuity. But, it's a big, ripe world, and I'll use whatever helps us tell the coolest, scariest comic stories.
Make sure to check out the new series BLADE, with artwork from Logan Faerber, when it debuts in October!
