Which do you think wins?Tech or Magic? Please explain why you think which one wins or ties with eachother.I think technology would win. Why?First of all, they have less time to make their tech work. What I mean is,for a lot a technology, all you have to do for it to work is to press a button. For magic,a lot of the spells take at least a few seconds to work. And many magic users have to focus hard to get their magic to work.Second of all,I'm thinking technology would have numbers on their side. They can easily make a machine that clones thousands of one person.Whereas, magic users could only do one at a time,or it would take an amount of energy to do so.Third of all, scientists are smarter. Therefore, they can strategize better. And strategy always helps in a fight.

They are both equal. But tech has advantages.Again, explain WHY which one wins and don't be bias.Don't go "Magic wins because it's magic" or "Science wins because it's cooler" Have a actual good reason.

To quote Tony Stark, "Magic is just a Science that we don't understand".

All o the spells and potions can be compared to conventional science, bud. And Magic wins.

See that horizontal button at the lowermost row of your keyboard? That's called "Spacebar." Use it.

Magic because even a moron can become powerful. However, with technology you need a tech geek to improve or fix you're gear.

power wise they are exactly the same.

Well, to be honest, there will be examples of technology and magic at every level that are equal. So speaking generally, they are equal.

However, if we're taking the very top tiers of both and pitting them against each other, probably magic.

But to throw a spanner in the cauldron:

Why not both?

Clarke's third law. "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"

In other words, when technology advances enough, it will essentially be the same as magic.

as such, neither are superior to the other.

Also,I find it funny how I asked everyone to explain why they think which wins, and yet everyone does the same thing:just say which wins. What makes a debate a debate?Reasons and support.Going "Magic wins" doesn't give me insight on why it does.Saying "because it's magic" is not a reason. It's an excuse.Probably because they're too lazy to give an actual reason.I gave my reasons why I think tech wins. Why isn't anyone else doing the same?

It goes either way really, I made a thread about this ages ago.

It depends on who has more fire-power. Thor (Magic) would crush R2D2 (Tech) since Thor has more power, but Iron Man would definetely pwn Harry Potter (since Iron man has more firepower).

Ultimately it depends on the universe but generally magic is superior. Science and tech follows a set of rules and logic. Magic defies logic and has basically no rules on what it can and cannot do. As someone else said its basically a form of reality warping and although it requires a conduit (ie: spell, item etc...) it can still do everything science can but also break all of science's limits without needing an explanation thus magic is far superior in most universes (I say most as on rare occaisions and universes tech can be superior, the Dr. Who-verse is a prime example).

Please explain!I need reasons.Like tell me what advantages magic has!

Well as I said, speaking across the board they are equal, but eventually technology will reach it's limit, whereas magic is an infinite source and has no limit. There comes a point where technology can only do so much, but magic can become infinitely powerful in the right hands.

In general though.. I'd favour magic over tech for convenience. Less carry weight than tech, less money needs spent.. it's like this - you need to take a grenade out your pocket, pull the pin, and throw it, and wait for it to detonate.

With magic, you can spam fireballs or explosions just as powerful as a frag grenade in a fraction of the time. Magic is easier to use and more accessible, and eventually has more potential.

It's a tricky one. Comics do not follow the laws of real world physics for the most part so most of the things we see are basically magic. The writer dictates the strength of either. Most top tier characters use magic of some description and I have never seen much of anyone Skyfather plus using as much tech as magic ; they are the most powerful guys and girls, so I have to go magic.

@teddy_the_god_killer: Skyfathers use magic.

Galactus, the Celestials, The Watchers, all use technology.

Darkseid, the Monitors, the Oans, all use technology.

Yes they are all top tier but they are still a fraction of the number of Skyfather plus level entities. Taken as a proportion pure tech characters are very small.

@cadencev2: Ok, so the only possible options, are science or magic?

That also, puts people like Jim Jaspers, Jamie Braddock, Franklin Richards, Hyperstorm, Superman-Prime(one million), Universal Mr. Majestic, etc. etc. on the side of science.

But if the only possible options are science or magic, then it ends up as a stalemate, since both have examples of Omnipotence.

Tech becomes as powerful as certain types of magic the more it advances.

Magic wins at first, but then tech just catches up to it and stalemates.

Not really. One Above All, Man of Miracles, Stephen Kings Dark Tower, and Presence are not bound to Science or Tech. Thus Magic. Yest all 4 are the highest level of the Omniverses.

Is there any particular part of the term "omnipotence" that you don't understand?

Both science and magic has examples of Omnipotence, hence it's a stalemate. With both sides having Omnipotence, it can not be anything other than a stalemate.
