There seems to be a lot of hype or liking for Spiderman in comparison to other Marvel characters. I was just wondering why is there so much liking for him, I mean no offence to fans and I'm not saying his a weak, pointless superhero; all I'm saying is I don't see that much in him as one of the top Marvel heroes (by fans). I would just like for someone to explain this to me and hopefully show me what is so good about this character?
Spiderman overrated?
@Enigmatri: if you don't get spider-man then Im sorry, but you probably never will. I grew up with Spidey, a lot of people did as well, it's a just hard to explain. But if I had to try, Id say it's because he is one of the first relatable super heroes to show up. He is not overpowered but he isn't a weak butt either, he is strong enough to be the underdog and to come on top. He started out as a teen, to which a lot of people can relate to. He had girl and popularity troubles, family drama, wasn't rich or anything, kinda nerd. Still he felt he was responsible for the lives of others and to do good deeds simply because he received a great gift. Spidey is just awesome like that
PS: he's also funny in a weird way, not necessarily AH AH funny but close enough

That's a good point Jorgevy, I've read a few Spidey comics and I liked them but wasn't very 'amazed' lets say. But I understand where your coming from, thanks :)
I think Spidey is so loved because as Jorgevy as said..he's easier to relate to compared to the Aliens, Gods, And Billionaire. The adverage person as a better chance of being Spidey like through a combination of Parkour training, weight lifining, (atleast reaching a bench of five hundred pounds) Studying entensivly in science, and yoga then they would the Sentry or someone. lol. Also it's the fact that he never just win's out right...he takes an a$$ whooping but never gives up. Look at his rougues gallery which includes some avenger and hulk enimes. Spidey has fought these people alone, an either overcame the power differential, or survived long enough to get his revenge. Humiliating them later. Morlun, Rhino, Firelord, Dr Doom. Spidey has fought and survived againgst these people. Not with power, because they have more. But because peter has heart. And is alway's fighting for a greater cause then himself.
Yay. Another one of these threads. If you're going to rehash a painfully old topic, please at least have the common decency to do it in one of the existing threads.
@KainScion: Thanks. It's just that I love the dude. He dosen't have money to by cars or planes. A straight shot to the heart, he'll probably die. And as I've said everyone he's faced is potentially more powerful. When I was in school teased for being ''nerdy" Spidey inspired me to not only not care, but make myself better, which is way I train like a maniac..or use too. lol
Its Spider-man*.Spiderman is the guy from whiz comics 89
You bumped it just to say that?

i didnt mean to bump it(Depending on your definition of Bump).O_o
Spider-Man was Marvel's best character
Then he made a deal with a devil
Then Avengers was released last year
Then Andrew Garfield wore the costume
Its sad really
Somebody upstairs must hold a grudge against that guy
Probably because of Spider-Man 3
@darkseidfanboy: Nah.
Spiderman is boring
Who do you consider not boring, and why?
@ximpossibrux: I used to like Spider-man but he's boring now a days . My favorite Spider-man was from TAS series .
No, if anything Spidey is underrated. I think Dan Slott is overrated, but Spider-man, regardless of writer/artist will always be "Amazing"
Spider-Man is a lie, no one who is as capable and talented with as many perks as he has can truly say he's one of them and the list of chicks he's scored with. All of his mistakes are self inflicted boy fantasies made by writers to project themselves on to since Spidey never truly suffers as say Daredevil, Hulk and sometimes Wolverine.
He wasn't but man his comics have sucked for like the last decade which really made me kinda fall off from liking him as much. Growing up he was my first favorite super hero and I loved reading Ultimate Spider-Man and even the original Spider-Man from the 1960's. I own the omnibuses but Dan Slott really has killed his character in my eyes. His majority of villains are also B-list type villains compared to other superhero villains.
My dad liked spiderman when he was a kid and in his early teen. As an adult (young adult mostly) he was reading some of his comics when he wasn't busy. When I asked him why you're so happy back at spider man 1 in theaters, I never forgot what he said: "he's web-slinging again." He told me back in late 80's and the whole of 90's spiderman not only lost the fresh air, it had back in 60's and 70's also they (marvel) messed up his comics and stories so much and raimi's spider-man 1 was a miracle. Tobey Maguire and raimi's legendary trilogy made me to love spiderman so much, until Sony messed up spider 3 so much (tough it was pretty good in my opinion) spidey lost his touch, not to mention tdk came out, avengers and MCU happened and tasm 2 happened. He was much more of balanced and in lates 2000's he became underrated. But now thanks to MCU he's so overrated and annoying, not to mention these M/M Stark/Parker fanfics and arts in web. Spider-man is a great and popular character but my favorite is Noir, such an butt-kicking badass and intimidating brutal Vigilante.
