Christian Bale honestly did a good job as Bruce/Batman. He just seemed..I don't know..he didn't inhabit the character the way Chris Evan's does Captain America.
Evan's completely sells the entire journey from idealistic believer, to bemused War Bonds idol, to sudden soldier, to Leader, to fighting alongside larger than life people, to leading them, to being betrayed by his own people, to being betrayed by his friend but STILL keeping his optimism, idealism, being aware of guile, but not using it himself, and making it convincing.
tough choice
Shouldn't be.
If it hadn't been for The Winter Soldier movie, I'd say Batman easy. But since then, Cap's been my favorite MCU character. Don't like how he's written in the Avengers movies at all, though.
The Nolan Batman movies are my favorite CBM ever, so if it was which I preferred that would be Batman hands down. That's not to say Cap isn't great though, he's my favorite MCU character and Winter Soldier was right up there with The Nolan Trilogy. If it was who better portrays the Comic-Book character they're playing that's definently MCU Cap/Chris Evans. He emulates the character perfectly to the point I can't even point out any notable differences off the top of my head. Christian Bale is a great actor but the realism of Nolan's style makes it kind of hard to match the presence of Comic Batman. So I like Nolan Batman better, but MCU Cap is the far better portrayal.
MCU Captain America is closer to his comic counterpart than Nolanverse Batman so I pick Captain America even though I like Batman more as a character.
MCU Cap is much more on point to who the character is. Nolan Batman had two great movies and 1 good one, but he's not the "real Batman". He wasn't what I wanted to see in a lot of aspects.
This is more of how MCU Cap is written, but I dislike Evan's portrayl because he makes Cap seem like a naive loser in a lot of scenes.
Actual Cap is a bonafide badass.
This is how I felt watching The First Avenger, but looking back, I'm glad he didn't become a badass in the space of one training montage, instead evolving over the course of four movie appearances. By Age of Ultron, he's pretty much point-for-point, blow-for-blow the Captain America of the comics, and it feels earned.
@voloergomalus: Not really, he's asking people to watch their language.
@voloergomalus: Not really, he's asking people to watch their language.
Once, at the beginning. The rest of the movie is full of Cap badassery.
Both are really, really good. Cap is closer to his comic book counterpart but I think Batman's portrayal was better. Christian Bale is, quite simply put, and better actor than Chris Evans, and Batman/Bruce is a more complex character than Cap.
@voloergomalus: He actually says it throughout the film.
Captain America. IMO Chris Evans feels more genuine as his character.
@slayz: Nope. Just the once. They make fun of it throughout the film though.
@voloergomalus: Right, which means it's happening throughout the film, since they're portraying Cap as a naive loser.
Not that hard to follow.
@slayz: If by "it", you mean "making light of an endearing adherence to tradition that humanizes an otherwise tough-as-nails badass, thus more harmoniously integrating him into the ensemble cast", than yes. However it remains that he only asks someone else to watch their language once, spending the rest of the film inspiring those around him and fist-fighting killer robots, every bit the portrait of human virtue and virility that we've come to expect from the comics. He's come into his own at this point; stage is set for him to be tested in his next solo film.
Evans as Cap. Probably the best portrayal of a super hero since Christopher Reeves' Superman. Both actors radiate the noble goodness inherent to each character. Bale was fine, but I don't believe that any actor has yet captured Batman's tactical ingenuity or borderline insane drive to eradicate villainy. Affleck seems closer to exhibiting the latter from the little bit provided by the BvS trailers. We'll see in a month if that's true.
@voloergomalus: Really?
Because it seemed to me they were making fun of him for being a naive loser.
@slayz: This "naïve loser" interpretation of the "language" jokes is not supported by what actually takes place in the movie. Everyone on the team acknowledges his leadership, and he is the chief opposition to Tony's secretive and rushed forays into dangerous and unpredictable technologies. The other characters most likely see his chiding Tony at the beginning as an unintentional self-parody of qualities in him that they actually respect, like decency and moral fibre.
@voloergomalus: Whatever you need to tell yourself. I got the vibe of, "naive loser".
@slayz: It's always easier to dismiss your interlocutor by baselessly denigrating his objectivity than to construct a convincing argument. Heck, you might as well just fart in my general direction; I assure you it would be no less worth my while.
As much as I like The Dark Knight, I really don't care for Batman in that film.... I just like watching the Heath Ledger parts. MCU's Cap is the $#!%.
Baleman didn't exactly sell the 'Word's Greatest Detective' aspect of the Caped Crusader.
"Where were the other drugs going?!"
Investigate.
"Where are they?!"
Look for clues or something.
"Where's the trigger? Where is it?!"
Read Sherlock's 'The Science of deduction.' It should help you out.
but he found the bullet in TDK though (with help I know)
and he actually found the drugs and Falcone shipment
but yes I agree with people´s points in this aspect
@slayz: Not sure how "naive loser" makes any sense they poke fun at his "watch your language" thing throughout the film but quickly point out at the beginning that Cap is the leader Tony is the money, none of them think he's a "naive loser".
@slayz: Ehh, I'm getting a little worked up. I can see how Steve's sensitive, idealistic personality, in contrast to his powerful physique, can convey the impression that he is perhaps more of a naïve "space cadet" than a super soldier. But I also think his increasing confidence in a leadership role shows that he is becoming more like our concept of Captain America as comic fans.
Cap and it's not even close to me
They pretty much make Cap in the movies on point with his comics
Mainwhile "Real Batman" while did have good stories was still soo far from comic book Batman to the point it hurts
The throat cancer, his no where near comic Batman strength, skills, mind etc etc like a million years far off....but BenBatman is doing Batman justice in everything as far as the trailers show.

Hitting that nail on the head.
I didn't get the distant, cold, brooding feel with him either. Just this lost man, looking for best way to right the wrongs he's learned of.
@voloergomalus: Whatever you need to tell yourself. I got the vibe of, "naive loser".
so you got naive loser? how? they basically were just saying hey you are from the 40's and times are different. At no point is cap considered a naive loser....
@voloergomalus: He actually says it throughout the film.
No. He says it once.
...
On-topic, MCU's Captain America. Especially The Winter Soldier. Bale is a good actor, but Nolan under-utilised him in this trilogy. He was one of the least interesting parts of The Dark Knight.
MCU Captain America is closer to his comic counterpart than Nolanverse Batman so I pick Captain America even though I like Batman more as a character.
Chris Evans' Captain America stomps and it's not even close. Christian Bale's Batman wouldn't last 10 seconds in the MCU let alone 2 seconds in the DCEU
