Spoilers below to Silver Surfer Vol 8, 5 (SS books are great you should check them out)

So Silver Surfer's home world tried to invade, and destroy humanity. SS instead save humanity and wiped his home world from existent; Past and Present.

By doing so he essentially retconned himself out of the Fantastic Four story line. As if he never existed in FF continuity.

Is this Marvel attempt to pull a QuickSilver Scarlet Witch move with Silver Surfer?

No. The status of the character when the deal was made is what counts.

Wouldn't put it beneath them. They're essentially killing off the concept of the X-Men in comics. And they're making Victor von Doom an Iron Man character.

Marvel Comics have become glorified promotion for the MCU. And it will be the publishing side's downfall.

All Hail Rebirth, All Hail DC!!

This.

@EvilTyger: They were able to get around thay with SW and QS by retconning them as inhumans. And not Magneto kids

That had nothing to do with it as they both equally shared the characters. And they weren't retconned as inhumans

No, it was because they only appeared in 3 issues of X-Men comics, and then went straight to the Avengers. The whole 'Magneto's kids' backstory came later.

And they were retconned as projects of the High Evolutionary only after both directors threw their respective fits.

Honestly, Marvel getting Fantastic Four back wouldn't be a big deal because of the team themselves, but because of all the characters associated with them, like Silver Surfer and Galactus and Doctor Doom.

Although I'm sure Fantastic Four can be done right. Maybe as a period movie. Or a Netflix series.

@incredible_j:

First, they weren't retconned as inhumans

Second, they were allowed to use SW and QS because of their history with the avengers
