Superman benched the earth for 5 days= 14 septillion pounds. in five days non stop i estimate 250,000 reps.

then plug into formula

Initial weight times 0.03 = X

X times reps = Y

Y + initial weight= Max

140,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

x .03

----------------------------------------------

4.2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

x 250,000

------------------------------------------------------

1,050,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

+ 14,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

------------------------------------------------------

1,050,014,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

that is supermans max bench: 1 dectillion(spelling), 50 nonillion, 14 octillion

Superman can bench the solar system

I love Superman, but when they threw out those #s, I just shook my head. IMO that's bordering on cheesy silver age, planet-juggling type stuff. And even if you're okay with such cheesiness, it creates a ton of inconsistencies with future fights. A guy that strong who can move him arms at the speed Supes can, there should be much more of an effect on the environment and the victims of said punches.

I think this feat is more impressive as a stamina feat.

So... When he was "bench pressing the earth"
What Bench was he lying on?  And, what platform was the bench sitting on?

@Nightwing_1234: He supported the equivalent of the Earth's weight for five days. He doesn't appear to be bench pressing.

Wow. Great effort here, even if I have absolutely no idea what all those numbers mean (Math isn't really my forte XD).

But yeah, Superman bench-pressing the planet for five days seems to be a little...too much. I mean, Superman is a powerhouse and all, but that level of strength (especially when he's still so young!) seems a little out there.

Also, there are other factors to consider regarding his optimum strength. Sun exposure, for instance.

Well, I enjoy the Silver-Age era strength. It's never a question of if Superman will win to me, it's how will it happen, it's a journey, and I'm perfectly fine with him being stupid strong. Just like I'm okay with The Flash being stupid fast.

@nightwing_1234:

Now, the only problem, this isn't his "max". Given what it says on panel, he can handle more than this. Thanks for working the numbers out though. :)

Most regard Superman's benching feat as bad writing under Lobdell/PIS.

@fallschirmjager: goku would win

probably, but if you've been to any of the HST fan sites, they go insane with calculations.

if you ever heard of pixal-scaling. one of the funniest things ever.

@allstarsuperman: Planet shaking is legit, benching of The Earth is not. It's just bad writing and extremely inconsistent with most of his showings.

@frozen: its called a high end feat. You actually use Batman's robot smashing kick in battles which is way more PIS, WIS, AIS, then a planet bench.

@allstarsuperman: It's not. Benching The Earth is bad writing; Batman kicking apart the robot had various factors.

@fallschirmjager: how impressive is it to vaporize a moon or planet at relativistic speeds?

its around your Thor/Superman level. Higher than what they consistency do, but Surfer could accomplish that.

not sure what you're referring to, so can't comment further...

@frozen: what factors? Was he on venom? Was the robots bolts unscrewed? If no it was pis. Superman doing someing super is much more logical.

@allstarsuperman: It's not logical, it doesn't even correlate to most of his showings. Batman was probably kicking a sensitive part of the robot.

@fallschirmjager: I don't mean ramming the planet/moon, I mean turning them into space dust and to mass scatter it at extremely high speeds, relativistic to be more precise.

@frozen: I don't see what's so wrong with having planet level strength. Him shaking the earth is a way to make the feat legit. Scotts run was full of feats. Deal with it.

Batmans not Magnus robot fighter he can't just sense were to punch a robot to make it implode on it self. I can accept punching bricks and kicking down trees, but kicking giant metal robots has no explanation.

@allstarsuperman: Shaking of The Earth would require less strength, there's nothing wrong with planetary strength (he's moved Warworld after all) however more often than not his benching feat hasn't correlated with most of his showings, he brought the feat out but it wasn't consistent with the level he's overall been written at.

Why not? The robot wasn't Optimus Prime reborn, it very well could have already suffered damage or had weak spots which cause it to de-function.
