@nobunaga101: Okay then what of someone like Goku black? He's "not a gag character" yet he nigh instantaneously gets significantly more powerful? Just face it already anime/manga characters in general are just full of potential.

I know Goku Black isn't a gag character, but Saitama is. Saitama became overpowered by exercising like a regular human everyday, eating bananas and not managing the temperatures in his house. Since that's what made him superhuman then you can tell he's clearly a gag character.

Goku Black is just Zamasu in an unaltered timeline who is already powerful MIXED with Goku's body. He's obviously going to be very strong.

Btw for what's highlighted in bold, I never denied that it was true.

here's a question major H, if batman, spidermanm captain america, and other along their power of being super peak human trained in a gravity cchamber how much stronger do you think they can get. Imagine batman doubling his strength and being able to hit people like joker and penguin once and knock them clean out

It seems Goku work always gets interrupted no matter what. He does need a life. But there would be no game of course.

It's important to remember that most characters like Superman in western comics have strength that comes from superpowers. Factors besides just their body's natural strength. In Superman's case, for instance, it's solar radiation.

That's basically it right there. Hulk doesn't get stronger by doing more push-ups. His rage strengthens him. Superman won't get any faster via sprint training. Solar radiation boosts his powers.

Eastern characters like Goku and Naruto have to train physically in order to tap into their powers (ki, chakra, etc.). Most western comic book characters won't get any better using the methods manga characters use. You think Silver Surfer will finally be able to defeat Hulk in an arm wrestle if he hits the gym four times a week?

As others have said, they do train. They just don't get insane power boosts that push them a dozen times beyond their natural limits from it. Rather Western heroes train to hone abilities they already have, and when faced with an enemy they can't beat need to think creatively to come up with a strategy to beat them.

I personally prefer the Western method as it makes for less predictable stories.

Because training doesn't magically make you better in western comics. they have limits. Superman no matter what will never be able to train enough to beat Darkseid. Same with batman and Deathstroke.

Not to say they don't train but it's just not an easy answer.

Well Invincible actually has shown to train and his strength and speed grew noticeably from said training.
