In which case, there are only 48,388 awesome people in the whole world. And I'm not one of them.

Seems like a pretty disappointing start for Katana and Vibe. 27,000 for a first issue is lower than any of the original New 52 #1s. Maybe people were right in thinking they wouldn't sell well.

so basically it was a package, with 6 #1 issues all with different covers, but the same issue, this kind of speculation is just unacceptable in this day and age

I'm SHOCKED that Batman Inc. didn't rate higher. There were issues going for $15 bucks on ebay that day.

I think DC sold a package of all 52 Justice League Of America variants. That might explain how it sold so many copies.

Avengers #1 with it's 18 variants sold 186,989 copies, and #2 sold 83,088, so I imagine Justice League Of America will drop down quite dramatically too.

It undersold cause no one knew for sure that Damian was going to die in that issue until a couple of days before the fact

by then it was way to late to order more copies

but this will make the second printing of issue 8 a lot bigger and will have a lot of increased orders for issue 9

it will also increase the value of the first printing of issue 8

@V_Scarlotte_Rose: Roger - thank you in advance then ma'am. Quick question though - why isn't Elephantmen listed anywhere that I can currently see? I would have thought that each title would be listed - regardless as to how low the sales numbers.

@Grey56: That's very strange, I'd've thought it would've been there too. The only thing I can see recently is that 'Elephantmen Vol. 5 Devilish Functions' sold 883 copies in December. I don;t know why they wouldn't be listing it.

Can anyone else see anything missing from the lists?

Neither of these issues were particularly good IMO - I was really disappointed with the Katana issue, and although I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the story in Vibe, I don't think either book will last long

I think the first 4 books you mention have been cancelled anyway. What amazes me is how Batwing keeps going with sales between 12 and 13 thousand - less than some of those 4 books

Yes they do - despite the fact that DC have 3 of the top 4 selling titles this month (and JLA #1 heavily skewing the figures), by my calculation Marvel sold 378,700 more comics than DC. That's counting the top 50 titles only.

DC needs better heroes that aren't in the JLA.

If they are going to stick with 52 titles and also want to challenge Marvel at the same time, then they need to discover / develop more popular characters and titles. They can't just flood the market with yet more Batman / Superman / GL / JLA books either. We have seen this month how having several titles has possibly affected Avengers sales - and it has happened to other characters (Deadpool springs to mind) before.

I thought Katana was alright, but not exactly mind-blowing.

@V_Scarlotte_Rose thanks for posting ^_^ I usually miss these numbers by a few days when left to my own devices (and besides, I'm only ever looking for one number, haha).

I almost feel like I missed out by not knowing about all the JLA variants. Almost.

I agree. I'm getting tired of Batman & Superman and I'm actually a fan of Batman & the Bat-Family but I can't take anymore over-saturation. This is why I only read two Avengers books I don't need 5 or 4 or whatever they have now. I'm going catch up on Secret Avengers but after issue 1 I don't see any reason to read Uncanny Avengers.

And theres a lot of good stuff thats not justice league related, every series from the dark family has been getting critical appraise so far except for phantom stranger

I know, but that's not the stuff that's topping the charts. Aquaman is the only character that seems to have stepped up to the plate.

Maybe they need some incentive. I didn't have any idea books like Demon Knights,Batwing,Savage Hawkman,& Swamp Thing would be good? When you risk spending your money on something that may not be good, you tend you go with what you know.

Ive rarely heard people talk about batwing, savage hawkman always was an awful series from start to finish, but demon knights and swamp thing always get highly positive reviews in this and other sites

Of course, its dumb dc focuses on a series thats obviously going to sell a lot anyway (jla) instead of its good yet underrated stuff, but theres a lot of readers who dont really look for non-superhero series

DC better do something to rise those Superman sales...June can't get here faster.

Because they're abominable stories that desecrate characters are written by a childish simpleton that wants the DCU his way and no other.
