Most of these I've read, a few I haven't. I picked Kingdom Come. Not just one of the best Superman stories but one of the best stories in comics period.
PFFT! Birthright all the way ladies and gents!
...
Pick it.
You know you want to...
Do it.
What are you waiting for?
Come on now...
If you're still reading this, you obviously are delaying the inevitable.
@deranged_midget: I haven't read it so I pick Brainiac.
@veshark: HEY BRUH! I'M NOT OLD!

>.< I am indeed a fool but I am not old! I WILL NOT GIVE IN!
I picked Last Son simply because of the one tie in issue where Pa tells Ma about the time that Clark took him into space...that story does an amazing job of telling readers why Superman is the best superhero ever

*Motivational speaker voice* Don't worry, we'll get there eventually....it's a process.
Haha on that note, I really should get around to reading Birthright. People keep telling me awesome it is...
I see how it is...
And yes! You definitely should pick it up! All the titles here are brilliant but my favourite picks have to be Birthright, Red Son, Last Son and What's so Funny about Truth, Justice and the American Way?

Mm, I really should. I enjoyed Waid's Captain America: Man out of Time (which was basically an origin story), so I'll definitely pick up Birthright when I get the chance.
Funnily enough, I've never read any of those picks! I know it's practically blasphemy to call yourself a Supes fan and not have read Red Son....but damnit, I don't have enough money!
@veshark: Get on it mate! There is a great variety to the stories available!

Wilco ;)
This is the toughest question yet...I was going to say it's a tie between Birthright and Red Son..but then you threw Kingdom Come in the mix....damn.
Okay.
1. Kingdom Come
2. Birthright
3. Red Son...
I didn't even read the rest of the choices. Picked All-Star Superman right off the bat.
If every person on the planet were to read All-Star Superman we would be so much closer to world peace and the end of world hunger. I don't know how or why but it would happen.
I picked Birthright because I haven't read that many Superman stories. It's not one of the most praised stories but I liked Ending Battle a lot, too. I'm looking on eBay about getting "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?" I liked the movie and it's supposed to be a good book too.
'For The Man Who Has Everything' deserves more votes, even if it isn't the 'best' it's still up there.
This poll is making me wanna read All-Star Superman again like watching a food TV show makes you wanna grab a snack.
I can't believe than choose could be so hard....
But making a deep analysis, all the good stories of Superman are about WHO Superman is and what he means. Could be this through his beggining, his end or putting him in an alternate world.
So even I would like to vote for some of the favorites of best writers as Morrison, Straz, Waid or Moore, my vote goes to Kelly, because he was smart enough to do that in-continuity.
(Yes, I know than "For the man who has everything" was a work in continuity too, but most of the history happened in that dreamworld).

i picked it!
u thought i wasnt goin to?
pssshh...
but just lookin at that list shows how many great superman stories there actually are, and these are just like the top 15! there are so many more.
Most of these I've read, a few I haven't. I picked Kingdom Come. Not just one of the best Superman stories but one of the best stories in comics period.
Completely agree. Kingdom Come is my favorite comic book story ever. Alex Ross is the best artist ever.
I chose Secret Identity.
When I was 12, "For the man who has everything" was my favorite. Now, I'd probably say "Our worlds at war" is my favorite, despite the bad art in some places.
My favorite story is not there (Which is the Elseworld story The Last Family of Krypton)... So I chose my second favorite. (Current continuity doesn't bode well with me when it comes to Supes.)
You did good, Comicvine.
You did good.
