In the Marvel Universe and DC Universe (comics, main continuities), do clones (such as Ben Reilly and Superboy), synthezoids and androids (Vision and Red Tornado), and extraterrestrials (Skrulls, Kryptonians, etc.) have souls?

If they don't have souls, to what extent are they alive?

@bjparks: Good question

do clones (such as Ben Reilly and Superboy)

Superboy actually had a character arc about trying to find his soul. He asked Raven whether or not he had one, and she said that he actually made it himself. But that it is still small.

synthezoids and androids (Vision and Red Tornado)

Red Tornado has a soul because Felix Faust has put his soul into a human body. But Red Tornado also has magic in his origin, he isn't just a robot.

Vision is the hardest one to answer. He has been told before that he doesn't have a soul:

But I'm not so sure. You should read his 2015 comic, it sorta talks about this stuff and it is insanely good.

extraterrestrials (Skrulls, Kryptonians, etc.)

A bunch of Marvel aliens have had their souls stolen by the Soul Gem.

And I'm 99.999% sure Clark has a soul.

I would say that clones and aliens could have souls, but synthoids and androids would not. Call me a robot-racists but I would believe you need to be born, not built to gain a soul. Also, in theory, provided they get regular maintenance, synthoids, androids, robots, etc... can live forever which denies one of the reasons to have a soul. Having said that, robots might be endowed with something similar over time provided people cared about them the same way some religions believe that objects can gain a spirit.
