Where is Wesley Wyndam Pryce?
I'm going to give you the stock answer I give everyone who asks, "Where is _______?"
I'm sorry that your character was not nominated, cosigned or voted upon for this project. I'm also sorry you were not around to join in. Maybe next list you will be able to vote/nominate. This list was decided by the community at the time, so yeah.

I can't see Rick Deckard here, which can mean only two things: it's either something went horribly wrong, or I've become too old for this site.
Now that I think about it, in both cases something went horribly wrong. Get me the Blade Runner, I want him to find the skin-job who counterfeited this list and shoot it.
:)
Perhaps I have just overlooked her, but the absence of Red Sonja on either list makes these lists dubious in my eyes.

Im Amazed that not One WH40K character is on that list :-0
It was what the community nominated...can't explain it...
I know its early Doors but any chance of being on the panel for next year? Few other sci-fi characters i would like put forward from Babylon5 etc etc :)
@Chaos Prime: well, I don't know if I'll do a 2013 version of this list...
It depends on the community...I was repeatedly asked last year and this year about the 2012 version of the superhero/villain lists so i went with that.
It has also been requested to have a Top 100 Superman Universe Stories (like the Batman one we did, but for Superman and family...), so I want to try to do that...
If I remember correctly someone requested for the creation of this list, so this shows how far I will take suggestions if the community backs it...

without looking at the list I don't remember it being nominated...
sorry...
not your fault
had I known about it I would have nominated her
but I am just amazed that noone else did....
ho hum
=)
Imo after 16 pages of replies there should defo be a 2013 version as it does seem a very popular subject :)
Yay or Nay?
@Chaos Prime: pm people and see if there is any suport of such an option.
For me, I don't really care for the idea of doing a 2013 version of this because I want to do something new. We could do so many other lists that we haven't done. We could do a:
And so many others...
If there is a lot of suport to this, then I would gladly do a 2013 version, but we'll see. The reason I wanted to the Villain and Hero lists agian was because we didn't have the system we have in place now and we had 64 pages of conflict last year (and that's not including the blog). However, if you want to start pming people to petition for a 2013 list, then I would gladly do a list (because I like this list...it had more variety than the hero lists), but the community must be behind it. I can't stress this enough.

The absence of Dr. Susan Calvin from such a list is an abomination.
And where's Randolph Carter?
Professor Challenger?
(and I love Star Trek too, but it and it's spin-offs are way over represented in the list + runners up)
I can't answer about the last 2, but I will say with much sorrow that the protagonist of Asimov's Robot series does not have a page on this site (which I find really suprising...). The other stuff, as you know, is not under my control because I leave nominating to the community...
Hmm was hoping to get some good ideas from this list but I think my tastes differ too greatly from the voters. I prefer techy-talk and characterization over pop/action. I do like Dream up there though, he's one of my fav comic characters. But nobody from Star Trek until #34 on a top Sci Fi characters list lol? Harry Potter #4? Boba Fett in the top HALF? Boba is cool and all but wow. And Hellboy #1!? I'll see myself out....
