Best Comic Covers of the Week: 7/6/12

This week was definitely chock full of gorgeous comic book covers, and we had the pleasure of going through them and picking out some of our favorites.

First up is the cover to FAIREST #5 really impressed us this week, and it's no wonder why. Any time artist Adam Hughes delivers a cover to any comic you can almost always guarantee it will look pretty impressive. The cover really captures both the tone and the setting of this issue; the Snow Queen sitting pretty with a polar bear, while flames -- representing Hadeon -- rage behind her.

Jae Lee's cover for BEFORE WATCHMEN: OZYMANDIAS #1 is by far the most interesting and beautiful of all the BEFORE WATCHMEN covers we've seen so far. It completely encompasses this perception that Ozymandias is an enlightened man, being portrayed in the state of meditation. He appears cross legged above the Sphynx -- it's a powerful image and it speaks volumes about the character. The detail in his robes and the warm colors compliment the image beautifully.

The cover to HELLRAISER #15 is all sorts of creepy. At the center of the cover we see the faces of both the Female Cenobite and Kristy Cotton; and behind them is a beautiful, cold and dreary backdrop. I loved the colors used in this image, and the detail in the faces of both characters as well as the background. It's a truly gorgeous cover.

Artist Arthur Adams does an exceptional job illustrating the details of Man-Thing's face for the cover to THE INFERNAL MAN-THING #1. I really loved the intricacies of this image and I think it's a shame they had to put all that lettering over the picture. The vibrant colors are really beautiful, and don't at all take away from the elusive creepiness of the character's expression. Great stuff.

In point of fact, Ozymandias is levitating over a colossal statue of Ramses the Great, after whom he's named.

I like them all except for the Hellraiser one. He-Man and it's variant should be in that spot.

Ozymandias #1 looks a lot like this Magneto pic.

None the less very cool.

Best cover of the week is Jae Lee's Ozymandias. You could have put either cover of Wolverine #310 by Platt or Bianchi as well.

Meh. Only Man-Thing stood out to me.

While I don't care to read Wolverine #310, it's a crime that that cover isn't here!

Fairest is killing it with covers. Looked at the upcoming covers on their website and show even better covers on the way.

From this list of covers I really liked Hellblaiser and Fairest

Wolverine #310 was tops this week in terms of covers. If only the book was any good.

true and the Ultimate Spider-man 12 wasnt that bad either

I like Man-Thing but thats only because I love the old style monster covers and this reminds a lot of Toxic Avenger #1

It's the Man-Thing for me this week.

I maybe be one of those people who just love Clive Barker and the Pinhead world. But the comic is great imo. And to say the characters look ridiculous most of the time is plain wrong.

HELLRAISER #15 is the Best!

It actually took me about two minutes to decide between the two Hellraiser covers at my LCS. I finally swapped out for the one pictured. The Infernal Man-Thing did catch my eye though.

For a minute there, I mistook Man-Thing for Cthulhu.

My favourite was the Man-Thing this week. Although i am a fan of Art Adams, who has been doing a lot of Godzilla covers as of late.

On another note the Infernal Man-Thing is like nothing Marvel has brought out in a very long time. It has almost a Vertigo feel to it.
