Ben Affleck is Batman

From the Man Without Fear to the Dark Knight...

According to The Wrap, Ben Affleck is currently set to play Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. The website also states this will be an all-new incarnation of the hero, further confirming it will not follow-up on Nolan's universe. Greg Silverman -- President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at Warner Bros -- made the announcement and says they, "needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of his character."

Additionally, director Zack Snyder says Affleck is a great choice to counter-balance Henry Cavill's Superman. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him."

Directed by Snyder and co-written by Snyder and David S. Goyer, the untitled project is expected to hit theaters 2015. So Viners... do you think Affleck is a good choice for the cowl?

great actor and has the jaw line...but but it doesnt feel right yet. I hope he gets shredded for this role cause hes a little beefy

That's gonna be weird...seeing Ben Affleck as Batman. I've grown accustomed to relatively unknown actors being super heroes. Also his very distinct jaw is gonna distract me, sticking out of the mask. Didn't he say he was done with super hero stuff?

if he plays batman the way he acted in the town, and by that I mean a badass then it will be good. if he plays batman like he played daredevil then it will be shoddy

He can play the dark superhero but...I don't see him as batman....He doesn't have the voice for it nor the body in my opinion interesting choice though.

To be honest. I just lost a little interest in this film :-/

I'm going to be one of the few people to say that I liked Ben as Daredevil, and as long as you watched the Director's Cut, it was a really good movie (minus the obnoxious Evanescence music). I can totally see this working, though I'm stunned that the people involved think it's a good idea considering his reputation.

This could work. Ben Affleck, while not the best actor in the world, should be able to bring a fun playboyish vibe to the Bruce Wayne side of things, if this show has any of the B-Man out from under the cowl. Not sure how he'll look in the suit but that's a suit problem. Definatly has the look.

Well this is surprising. Let's see what comes from this.

I think Ben's time behind the camera has really improved his acting. I can see this working well. As was said earlier, he was a badass in The Town.

Just don't make him do a lot of flips.And make sure he combs his freaking hair

This is the same guy who, last I knew, ragged on superhero movies. Not sure he is going to fully respect and appreciate the role he is about to take on.

Besides that, he doesn't have anywhere near the physique needed for this role. He needs to spend an hour a day in the gym, starting now.

AWESOME pick. He is a great actor Boston = Gotham. The Town was a great movie. He has the Billionaire playboy look. He can change his voice. He has been working out heck he has Jennifer FINE Garner

Okay, Affleck has some serious skill when it comes to directing a film. Acting has not been his strongest skill. He's had his moments in some films, but he's incredibly erratic. Did they not see what happened with DAREDEVIL?

I want to trust Snyder, but this may be a bridge too far.

He's been really great in everything I've seen him in. I think he's a great choice to inherit the cowl.

WTF!!! Is this August's Fools Day or some other bad joke I'm not aware of? Affleck is horrendous! I literally will not watch this movie now, absolutely zero interest. Dear God, does this mean he would also be in a Justice League movie? Wow, I have a complete loss of thoughtful or considerate words.

This is unexpected, but not at all a bad choice. I've come around to Ben Affleck since he's been directing.

Here are my thoughts:

I was so excited for the idea of Jon Hamm. This kills me inside, considering after Daredevil he went on to say he didn't like super hero movies. Clearly he changed his tune.

I really don't know what to think. I like Ben Affleck as an actor, but something is just out of place with this one. It may be his fame. I was also sort of hoping for a bigger Batman, finally.

I have no idea how I feel about this. Then again when it comes to casting an actor to play a character on the big or small screen, like Superman or Spider-Man, I have no idea who to cast as certain characters. Example, I have no idea who to cast as Wonder Woman.

He'll be fine. I don't blame Ben for what happened with DD. That was the editor's fault. The Director's Cut was really good. Ben is a great actor with some amazing movies under his belt. Give the man a break. That movie was TEN YEARS AGO! LET IT GO!

I dont know how to feel, Affleck has improved as a actor in the last 5 years or so, But Batman, the God Damn Batman....I get flashs to George Clooney and then no Batman movies for another ten years....Dont F this up Ben for everyones sake.
