Interview states how there were more story lines and certain things in the film got moved around. For example, Lex Luthor was originally supposed to be introduced later in the film.

Maybe if it was just BvS, and not dawn of justice included, this would not been a issue to an overall okay movie with weird edit and cuts.

I knew directors had a hand in editing, but many people throw around the notion that 'they have the final say', when in reality it seems like a joint effort.

4H? I doubt that the production budget was only $250M!

I will say that depends on the Director! For Star Wars prequels own loss no one had guts to point anything to George Lucas, and i bet no one at Fox will say anything to James Cameron in his editing regarding the Avatar sequels!

@lukehero: @petey_is_spidey:

Eisenberg also said that there were more Lex scenes to go over his motives that were cut.

I just watched the Ultimate Cut of Watchmen. God it felt like that movie was never gonna end, until it did.

The real question is, was it worth it?

When I saw The Godfather movies, I saw 1 & 2 straight. Started around 12pm and ended in the morning and I can honestly say those 7 or so hours were well worth screwing my sleeping schedule.

On topic: Hopefully this is the last time they shove too much universe building in a movie. Im afraid they might try a fast one in the JL movie but I really want it to be a great movie.

@the_stegman: Who the hell was minding the store on this one? Who was in charge of greenlighting a 4hr script? Were they not paying attention to what Zack was shooting? Who was in charge of watching the dailys on this film? This all makes me more ticked off then I was. I mean I came out of that film going, Oh well that was an okay film: C-. But, I'm sure JL will be great. Now readying how the process was going, gives me a lot of doubt they(WB, Team Synder) can handle juggling the stories of multiple characters in a JL film.

@lukehero: I feel JL will be equally as scattered, I'm afraid. Just a quick team formation with not enough fleshing out of the characters, but, I hope I'm wrong.

@the_stegman: I hope I am wrong, but they are shooting this movie now and it's like Zack Synder & the homies live in a bubble. I can't see how this movie won't be similar. Or maybe even worse. At least we will get some cool fight scenes...shrugs...They already got our money. It depends on how further the general audience will tolerate this level of incompetence.

Definitely worth it, though I had to eventually go to sleep because I was getting tired.

Only problem is that the movie did have some slow parts in which I just divulged into my imagination and was only slightly paying attention to the movie.

They're throwing out every excuse in the book aren't they? Oh well it's their own fault for not fixing that entire film when they had the chance. If you can't tell a cohesive and enticing story in two and a half hours then you need to look for another career. Go away Snyder, quit ruining our DCEU expectations with your mediocrity.

@the_stegman: @lukehero: Nah, I don't think JL will be nearly as messy. The problem with BvS is that they were trying to jump-start their movies the SHORT WAY (skipping 5 solo films, and just throwing everyone in one film) WHILE building off the events of MoS, and it just didn't work. So what they got was 4 hours of footage, 1 of which they thought that they really didn't need.

It also goes all the way back to late 2013, when WB thought it was a good idea to bring in a second writer, Terrio. Since Terrio didn't have enough time to completely rewrite the script, he had to work with what he had and work around some of Goyer's work. Also, around the same time WB wasn't happy with the script that Goyer and Snyder provided, NOT because of its quality, but because they wanted to focus on the bigger picture (this is where the 'Dawn of Justice' came in). However, by the time they realized that was a mistake, and it came time to edit the film, it was too late.

So this is how I see it: Snyder and Goyer get started on the script, Warner Bros. want to focus more so on the "bigger picture", they bring Terrio in to rewrite it; Terrio doesn't so much rewrites it, rather just writes around it. Finally editing comes around and what they have is 2 different scripts jumbled into one long ass movie.

@ready_4_madness: I'm not saying they need solo films, but they do need character development, which was lacking in BvS . Take Watchmen, another Snyder film. I actually loved it cause each character DID feel fleshed out especially in the extended cut.

Wow, they really messed up on BvS. This whole process should have been done differently. They had MOS already they should've introduced Batman and WW with their own movies along with flash and cyborg. I liked BvS but seeing all this disappoints me because this could have been a blockbuster hit if done properly. Oh well, what can you do. WB is really shitting the bed with the course they have decided to take.

@petey_is_spidey: You basically explained why they are gonna screw it again. They have to establish: Aquaman, Mera, Flash, and Cyborg,...then have to establish whatever villian. Then have to give an explanation for Superman's return. That's a lot of stuff in one film. Skipping the solo films is still gonna hamper the process and I have no faith WB won't also throw their executive hands into also trying to cook the meal. I have 0 reasons to have faith in this team. I hope I'm wrong and JL is great, but I have very low expectations now: some cool fight scenes, and a powerful villian.

I thought it was great. Just saw it again.

Lex father was poor. Grew up waving daisies at the Soviets. His father was also abusive. He however has respect for his father. In his motives and not changing his study, except for the painting be flipped. So Lex has a two reasons to hate Superman. He's brilliant and successful, Superman's power makes him feel like the abused child he once was. Something his brilliance and success would otherwise not feel. But also to prevent what his father grew up in he wants a silver bullet..except he plans to use it.

The fight between Bats and Supes is to have Batman kill Supes or to remove the love affair some have for Superman, now that he is a killer. Pretty much just giving bad press to Superman.

Ironic since that's what's trying to kill a great movie.

Editing happens to all movies.

Budget is the topic for only Snyderverse DC.

As well as expectations.

Then there's the rating, worse than Sharknado.

First off, how is this an excuse? They aren't apologizing for the film's quality, but rather how some characters didn't get as much shine and/or explanation as others, which is more then reasonable. Second off, it isn't Snyder, or even WB for that matter who's "apologizing", but rather the editor. Lastly, if you actually payed attention, the story was more than cohesive.

Ehh, not really. There will not be 2 scriptwriters for JL to mess with the main focus of the story; HOPEFULLY there will not be a scenario where halfway through pre-production they have to switch up half the plot and a few characters. Hopefully, and most likely seeing as the script was completed more than a month ago, they have a FAR clearer picture of what they want to do.

Unlike before, more and more I believe that BvS 'disappointment' was more so not having a clear direction rather than trying to do too much. Sure, they were trying to do A LOT, but very few things can get done if you are always trying to change things up.

Also, Mera is to Aquaman as Jane Foster is to Thor. She's a major character in HIS life, but in a JL movie, I doubt they'll give her the time of day that you think. Plus as previously stated with other movies such as X-Men, GotG, and even Watchmen, you don't really need set up movies to establish characters.

@petey_is_spidey: Actually I read somewhere Mera was supposed to be the 7th league member: Wonderwoman, Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Flash, Superman, and Mera...that might be untrue since William Dafoe is in the picture, but if Dafoe is playing the 7th league member then that's yet again another character that needs to be established...I'm not trying to be negative, but I have no hype for this movie outside of it being the first time we are seeing the JL,

The flash origin and life is pretty explained in the TV series, this is another flash but there is not much to say about him,the cyborg cameo was pretty much his origin, and Aquaman being king of atlantis isnt axactly News either the establishment was done in BvS,JL will be its own movie and while i loved batman vs superman, the warmth from the general audience can only go up from there

I honestly felt like they did a good job wit Batman personally, I mean granted I wish they did a other MOS first, also I would not mind a WW and Batman movie before BvS.
