All Star Superman vs The Dark Knight Returns

I'll give it to All Star. But I'm based considering I'm a Superman fan. But if TDKR didn't end with that fight I would have given it my vote.

I would say All Star Superman. I found Superman written far too OOC to make Batman look superior.

All-Star Superman, easily.

Both are amazing, but All-Star is hands down my favorite comic book of all time. It basically made me a fan of Superman. While TDKR is good, I personally find that it doesn't have the emotional depth and character development that All Star had. I overall just enjoy the story, dialogue, characters, and themes of the story as compared to TDKR.

Yes I like Superman more than Batman but no it is not because Batman beat up Superman the reason why I like All Star more (to be honest that was one of the best parts of the book imo)

I'm more of batman fan but I'd give it to all star since it made me cry when superman went into the sun....

All Star Superman gets my vote without a seconds doubt.

All Star Superman was so amazing while DKR was cool but not in ALL STAR SUPERMAN league.

Prepare to be shocked....TDKR. I'm not a fan of anything written by Grant Morrison, I've conceded that GM is smarter than me and that's why I don't understand him, but I still don't like his work.

TDKR book 1 and 2 are two of the best books I've ever read in comics, they were well written and really enriched the character of Batman. Where Miller losses me is in book 3 & 4, they seemed tacked on and against everything he had built up to that point.

Personally, Kingdom Come wins it for me. When Superman finally realizes how wrong he was and he busts through the Earth and into the Batcave asking Batman to help him save everyone, it was epic!

Voted for TDKR even though I much prefer Morrison over Miller,I think it's unfair if one dismisses that story entirely cause Batman beat Superman.

@entropy_aegis: People dismiss it because Superman was written wrong, not because Superman lost. No one dismisses Hush and Batman had the uppet hand.

People only TDKR because superman lost. The only thing written "wrong" about him was.. Nothing. TDKR helped kick off the bronze age and influenced all of the comic books made during that time that were dark and gritty.

Definitely All Star Superman. It's the quintessential Superman story. The Dark Knight Returns has some really good moments, but it's extremely overrated.

The one that's actually rereadable

The Dark Knight Returns got me into comics, and it has a special place in my heart, and it also made me a dumb kid who thought Batman could beat Superman just 'cause he was cooler.

I really enjoyed All-Star Superman though, from start to finish I found it exciting, so it gets my vote.

yes this is it 100% true is not a bout batman beating superman it was one of the best comics of all time and all star is one of the best superman comics of all time you cant pick one you have to pic both

All Star Superman I read it in 1 day to read it, it was a masterpiece, I couldn't put it down and it took me 2 weeks to read The Dark Knight Returns its was just too boring.

I'm not a Superman fan and he's my least favourite JL founding member (I have no resentment for the character I simply like him less than the others) but All Star Superman really made me love him. The Regan scene on top of the building always gives me the feels...

The Dark Knight Returns was garbage and a terrible influence on the industry.

Whatever any of you say, TDKR will always be way more influential and popular.
