Middle-class bureaucrats, frustrated at the numbing desensitization created by generic consumerism culture (i.e., Starbucks), decide to band together from pubs and form underground Halloween costume cults.
These members dress up as offbeat American comic book characters and create peaceful pranks on Halloween Eve, just to remind people that mischief does not have to be dangerous or harmful (simply fun).
However, unknown to these wandering crusaders on Halloween Eve, an emotionally troubled man named Sal decides to don the mask, equipment, outfit, and murderous persona of Leatherface, the eerie chainsaw-wielding, human skin-mask wearing cannibal from the popular Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror film franchise for Halloween and target members of this bureaucrat-crusade club.
As two bureaucrat members of the Halloween Crusade club wander around suburbia, Virginia, they notice a man dressed in a suit and wearing an eerie skin-like mask and carrying what seems to alarmingly be a real chainsaw. He is obviously dressed as Leatherface, but his chainsaw seems real. The two Halloween Crusaders, dressed as Captain Marvel and Green Lantern, approach 'Leatherface' and shine UV light into his eyes. Leatherface drops his chainsaw and it cuts his leg (he had turned it on to scare the two Halloween Crusaders).
The next day, news reports read, "Two unidentified valiant and heroic members of the unusual (and controversial) Halloween Crusade club apparently disarmed and helped police apprehend a man copycatting Leatherface (from the American horror film) on Halloween Eve."
What no one knew, however, that the real Leatherface, a man named Wes, was preparing to create unstoppable chainsaw havoc the next Halloween Eve. Sal was just an impressionable 'disciple' of the new Leatherface hype aesthetic. Wes heard the news report and targeted Captain Marvel and Green Lantern. Halloween was truly going to be a plague.
