Marvel Genesis: Luke Cage #8
INT. Kentucky.
Luke Cage is hitchhiking on the road.
LUKE CAGE (narrating):
My name’s Luke Cage. But is hasn’t always been. I was once called Carl Lucas, retired Vietnam War veteran, happily married in Ohio.
A car pulls over and picks him up.
LUKE:
Thank you.
DRIVER:
No problem. Where you want to go.
LUKE:
Bus station.
LUKE (narrating):
That life is over. Now, I’ll probably spend the rest of my life running.
The car comes up to the bus station.
LUKE:
Thank you. Do you want anything?
MAN:
No, keep it. I have to much money.
LUKE:
Thank you.
The man takes out a walkie talkie.
MAN:
I have a positive view on him. He’s at the Frankfort Bus station.
MAN TALKING FROM WALKIE TALKIE:
We’re sending a team there right now.
Several H.A.M.M.E.R. Soldiers burst in and surround Luke Cage.
H.A.M.M.E.R. AGENT:
Carl Lucas, by order of H.A.M.M.E.R., you are to be taken into custody or killed on sight.
Cage begins to attack the soldiers, and they begin shooting. The bullets bounce right off of Cage’s skin.
H.A.M.M.E.R. AGENT:
We need back up!
Suddenly, a tank bursts through.
LUKE:
Wait! Don’t hurt these people! They haven’t done anything.
H.A.M.M.E.R. AGENT:
I does not matter if they did something or not. You are our target. You can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.
Luke Cage suddenly jumps on the tank and twists it to the point where it’s pointing at the tank driver.
Cage takes out all of the H.A.M.E.R. Agents with ease, and leaves them there.
LUKE:
Don’t come after me again. I can do a lot worse.
As Luke leaves the bus station, he hails down a taxi. He hops in the taxi.
LUKE:
Thanks.
TAXI DRIVER:
No problem, maybe one day, you can do something for me.
He fires some sort of weapon at him
TAXI DRIVER:
And that day is today.
He takes his hat off, revealing himself to be the Hypno Hustler.
Cage sits there, under Hypno Hustler’s control.
