Introduction
The 5 Billion Years of Peace was a time of quick innovation, rampant consumerism, prosperous economic conditions, and curious exploration. More personal freedoms were given to the people such as the ability to edit the genome freely as long as it didn’t affect the physical beauty of a person or as long as the person still remained beautiful.
The Falcon Empire saw an extreme shift in political and cultural focus from isolationism to extreme nonpartisanship. Political parties within the Falcon Parliament, such as the Liberationists, were immediately disbanded in favor of individual politicians that were no longer confined by an ideology. The Novem Order also saw similar changes. Corak was no longer the single ruler of all and instead a democratically elected congress was formed to represent the people. The Avalon Republic changed back to its former democratic republic system of government with the president and senate being elected every 10 years.
Inventions and Innovations
The part of the known universe that was under a state's rule experienced great inventions such as genetic robotic implants. These implants could combine with human genetics and enhance the current state of the body. It further guaranteed the eternal life of a humanoid and granted people new abilities.
An innovation that was made was a new type of computing system called the Falcon TX-9, the ninth iteration of the base of all technological devices, was introduced. It was 5 million times faster than the Falcon TX-8 and it provided enough power for Genetic Artificial Intelligence.
Genetic Artificial Intelligence or GAI was a system which could replicate the full brain of a humanoid with the neural genetic and robotic augments. The first GAI ended up becoming an android which had all the characteristics of a regular humanoid.
Debates would spark up almost immediately about the invention of the GAI. I will cover that portion later in this article since it deserves its own little section.
Consumerism
The 6th Universal War ended in a genocide from a FID engineered virus called the Pyroflu or “War Terminator.” It was quite clear to the citizens of the Falcon Empire that they were the reason the genocide ever occurred. People voted with the mindsets of isolationism and glory. This evident guilt swept across the universal state.
In an effort to control the declining morale, Falcon Industries and the FID decided to come up with a 5 year production plan without the knowledge of the Falcon Parliament. The plan included speeding up research of new goods and services and using lots of propaganda in order to force the citizens to want something. It was due to this plan that any inventions and innovations ever came to fruition.
The first products on the list were robotic augmentations which were widely considered unnecessary since people could get the same benefits from genetic augments. However, Falcon Industries and its corporations were able to create a mass want for these robotic augmentations thanks to the influence of advertising. Exposed robotic limbs soon became a fad and companies like Sony, Apple, Samsung, Google, and Microsoft were the first to bring the software and hardware for these new products. Divisions and product lineups within these corporations formed such as Sony Corporis, Apple iLimb, Samsung Life, Google AI-Enhancements, and Microsoft Genetics.
Now it's important to note that there were more companies that got involved besides the five mentioned above. However, those five were the most innovative in the sector and managed to convince mostly everyone that they needed robotic augments. I say mostly because there were still a number of people who opposed this but, as aforementioned, I will talk about the debates that occurred later.
The second products on the list were new humanoid customizations you could buy from corporations in order to edit the genetic makeup. Before this was introduced, the Falcon Parliament would control everything from the genetic updates to the genetic imperfections. They placed standards of beauty and health that was enforced upon every humanoid within the empire. If anyone were to break these standards, the person may have been put in jail for eternity.
Those standards of beauty and health were very restrictive until the Falcon Family politically rebelled against the Falcon Parliament and introduced genetic customizations. The standards of beauty and health were still in place but they didn’t restrict what a person could do to their body as long as they looked attractive and they were still in good health. Those standards didn’t really apply to the people per say, but the corporations that made the genetic customizations. After all, a person couldn’t freely edit his own genome. That was illegal and instead they had to purchase a customization from a business or a person could ask the business to make a custom augment.
The rest of the plan included basic innovations and upgrades to current products being sold. GAIs were added to the technology products people bought. It made these products and services more incredibly intelligent than before and the GAIs helped people tremendously by automating certain tasks. The Falcon TX-9 increased the power of technology to new heights meaning that things previously thought impossible were now within reach.
The plan also included new products that were previously seen as unimportant or unnecessary. Corporations began to reintroduce tablets, augmented reality glasses, smart desks, intelligent mirrors, etc.
Through the incredible influence of propaganda, Falcon Industries and its businesses were able to convince the mass public that they wanted all these products. In turn, businesses gained so much profit that they had to raise wages from the base $500 an hour to $600 an hour toward the end of the time period. This meant that everyone who had a job or profession were millionaires. The unemployed were still rich due to excellent welfare.
Economic Imperialism
Now you may be wondering why I just seem to be discussing the Falcon Empire when the Avalon Republic and Novem Order also existed. Even though I am talking Falcon Industries I am actually speaking for all three universal states. Unfortunately for the Avalon Republic and Novem Order, the 6th Universal War left them with a crashing economy and incredible civil unrest. They decided to disband their current corporations and let Falcon Industries, with its superior products, take over their economy.
While this did raise economic growth to new heights never seen before, the two universal states no longer had control of its own economy. Instead they were technically controlled by the Falcon Family due to their ownership of Falcon Industries. The entirety of the 6th Universal War was about the Falcon Family’s terror policy and resistance against Falcon Empire control. In the end, the Novem Order and Avalon Republic lost that war.
Protests and Debates
Now you may be wondering why this time period is called the 5 Billion Years of Peace if there was still protests. Every single protest conducted was peaceful and violence was never used by the police if crowd control needed to be conducted. The debates formed within the governments were conducted with more civility. No politician used propaganda or sensationalism and instead politicians presented raw facts and data in order form arguments.
The debate over the use of GAI ended with the protestors losing and Falcon Industries winning. The Falcon Parliament decided that the GAI could improve many people's lives. This was due to formidable evidence and data being presented by the Falcon Family on the day of the vote. The Falcon Family proved that GAIs could improve the lives of many through automation. They disproved the theory that GAIs would become hostile against humanoids by building a functioning android which thought and acted like a humanoid. This was the first example of a GAI and it was able to convince the parliament to not ban its use. The protesters didn’t have a good amount of evidence suggesting the opposite.
The second debate that sparked up was over the use of robotic augments. The debate was over the fact that corporations could now track the actions being made by people. This was considered an invasion of privacy. This was another case that the Falcon Family was able to win. They presented clear evidence that when an augment was installed, there was no communication with any other device outside the robotic implant. The only communication it had was with the wearer’s brain.
Unfortunately this was later disproven in the 7th Universal War when the media companies of the Falcon Empire unveiled that the FID, Falcon Parliament, Novem Order, Avalon Republic, and Falcon Industries would spy on people who wore these augments. This led to violent mass protests and distrust of the government.
The third debate that was formed was over the case of the beauty and health standards set by Falcon Industries. The Falcon Family also won this debate with the reasoning that if people’s genetics weren’t held to specific health standards, then they would have the healthiest citizens in the universe not fit for work or battle. The beauty standard was less justifiable but the Falcon Parliament sided with the family anyway.
You may have noticed a pattern in each of the debates conducted. Each debate had a fair share of people who opposed a certain topic yet the power family kept winning. The reason for this is because the Falcon Parliament realized that in order for them to maintain power, they needed to be on the side of the corporations. Falcon Industries and the FID already disobeyed the parliament twice and they wanted to prevent anything like that from happening.
That was the irony of the whole situation. At the end of the 6th Universal War, the Falcon Family gave up the ability to make the final decisions and passed it on to the people, FID, and parliament. Falcon Industries simply became an entity with no political power because its owners gave up that power. The exact opposite happened when the Falcon Parliament still felt the influence of the family. Unfortunately for Rubrum, Orage, and Ouragan, they still were influential and held immense power even if they tried to give it up.
Exploration
With this era of peace came the reinvigoration of curiosity, science, and exploration of the known universe. Unlike before, the Avalon Republic, Novem Order, and Falcon Empire decided to keep at even ground when it came to conquering territory. Missions could not be conducted without the approval of all.
Toward the end of the 5 Billion Years of Peace, the universal states stumbled upon a discovery. One of their missions, which was sent to the known edge of the universe, reported that they had not reached an edge but that there was a mirror image of the other side. Scientists suspected it was a different universe with different laws of physics but when the explorers continued along the same path they found that they were within the same universe.
It was then concluded that the known universe was in fact much larger than previously thought. Copies of certain areas existed throughout the universe and there was much more to explore. Scientists could not figure out how these mirrored images occurred or where they came from and it is still a mystery to this day.
So the 3 universal states immediately funded an expedition that included the Falcon Family, Falcon Industries, and the FID. They were sent on a 50 year long mission to explore the new area and establish Warp Links so that they could communicate their findings. Within a month, they had established 1,200 Information Links across 457 planetary systems when they discovered another planet with humans.
They found that there was a certain group of humans that were oppressed by their rulers. Rubrum, Orage, and Ouragan decided to get involved and help the humans. They got the approval of the Falcon Parliament, Novem Order, and the Avalon Republic. The battles on the planet escalated to tremendous proportions attracting another previously unknown universal state. The 7th Universal War was ready to begin.
Ending Note
If you have read Exitium Chapter 1 before, if you have not click here, you would have encountered a hospital scene with Vitae and his mother. They talked about Falcon Industries and their help against the United States and Germany. The last paragraph is about that specific event that led to a Universal War which devastated the planet.
