Morning Glories has a small backup feature is which is Morning Glories Babies, a short feature which appears in the letter column of each issue, a cartoonish version of the events inside the issue, or of previous issues. The characters in these don't always necessarily show up in the issue themselves, so are they tagged or not? Kind of the same as tagging for a variant cover, though not exactly the same.
Character appearances specific to Morning Glories?
@blueecho: Yep they get tagged, any comics in an issue counts. You can add a note in the description if you like saying if a character is only in the backup if you like.
Not specific to this instance but the only comics that don't always count are if there is like a preview for something else included in the comic, there is no rule about it but it is mainly personal choice editor to editor, some include them some don't.
@pikahyper: OK sounds good. I just wasn't sure because the Morning Glories Babies segment is not really in continuity.
@pikahyper: I guess on a related point though, that the creative team behind the Babies should be listed as well, correct?
@blueecho: we are more about accuracy of the comics themselves so continuity doesn't really come into play but that is were notes come in, to a certain extent you can never have too much data.
yep the creative team should be listed as well, if they worked on it they deserve the credit for their contributions, unfortunately it does create some confusion, especially when users don't know about the inclusion of multiple stories and it highlights one of CV's biggest weaknesses in the wiki, the fact that we can't break associations up into story based sub-sections like most other wiki's can. To alleviate that some users include additional notes in the description, for example adding a Story Titles h2 with an unordered list listing the story titles and then adding the primary creators for it all on a single line like this but with creators added as well. It is up to how you want to handle it though, there are no rules saying you have to make things as clear as possible for others but this stuff does have historical value so if you are already working on it it doesn't hurt to go that extra mile when you have access to extra data/resources.
@pikahyper: Would it be ok to create a concept called Morning Glory Babies? And then tag all of those issues that have the connections?
@pikahyper: Ok I will need to track down all my back copies of MG then.
@pikahyper: My submission is awaiting approval, then I can get started.
@blueecho: You have to create the concept standalone, the queue has a couple bugs right now, one of them does not let a moderated submission add associations otherwise they delete any other associations in the section and if you create a stub in the sub it becomes free floating and inaccessible so you have to make the concept page standalone.
@pikahyper: Ok I didn't know that, I will get to it.
@pikahyper: It should be good now.
@pikahyper: Could you set the default image for it please?
@pikahyper: Must be a bug, I uploaded one when I created the page.
@blueecho: that actually makes sense, in the most general sense the problem with the queue is that moderated users can't link one page to another so that means associations don't connect and new stubs don't attach so it makes sense that an image can't be attached to a new page.
@pikahyper: Oh easiest solution for me is to get out of moderation. I am not that far off.
@pikahyper: Finished the page and got all of the associated issues.
