Connor Hawke Coming to 'Legends of Tomorrow'

During New York Comic Con, it was revealed there are two other characters coming to the show for the first season, as reported by TVLine. One character is a villain who picks up his father's mantle and the other is an African-American or bi-racial male who wears the costume of a missing hero. According to ComicBook, the latter is Connor Hawke.

Hawke is the child of Oliver Queen and Sandra Hawke. The New 52 reiteration of the character is from Earth-Two and goes by the name Red Arrow, where he is a member of The World Army. For the show, Connor will not be the son of Queen and Hawke, according to Warner Brothers.

Considering this is a show about time travel, we're guessing that Connor Hawke will be from the future and taking up the role of Green Arrow. Since The Flash is toying with other worlds, Connor Hawke could be from Earth-Two or Earth-One. We'll keep you updated as more develops.

Legends of Tomorrow comes to CW in January.

The fact that he isn't Oliver's already existing son is sooooo frustrating.

This is why I'm starting to dislike arrow/flash. They change things a lot and for no reason. I understand everything can't be 100% faithful to the comics but they're going to far.

They have already teased Oliver has a son a few times. I hope this isn't the pay off for those teases. Want to see him on Arrow first.

@zackattack93: nothing will ever be 100% faithful to the comics, not even the animated movies, which are pretty darn close.

@dan12456: But he could be his future son. What if that's what the current flashbacks deal with? Ollie's too young to have a son old enough to be the Conner we know. So with the time travel, it could be his Conner from a few years in the future.

But, Ollie already has a son in the show, the pregnant girl who his mom paid to get an abortion didn't do It, just use that kid!

I'm already happy to hear that Connor will be in the show. Like Batman, Cassie Cain and Richard Dragon, he's one of the best fighters in DC.

Harrison Wellls' time travel shenanigans turned the girl black and Connor is that baby.

Connor won't be the son of Oliver Queen? WTF? Oliver already had a son living in Central City with his mother. It would make sense if Connor is from a future timeline where he becomes the second Green Arrow after Oliver dies or retired.

Nah they don't even have to do that. As many chicks as Ollie goes through [or used to] he's bound to have more than one illegitimate child. Our luck it'll be Diggle's future grandson or something though...

We'll just have to wait and see the circumstances for this Connor Hawke's existence, but agreed with everyone above, they already laid the foundation.

@dan12456: yeah they could've done it with it being a time travel show. That said I'm kinda glad as it would've had people wondering when we'd see kid Connor on Arrow, which I don't think I really want to go back to.

1. Make him from earth 2, then when they introduce the child version of him we can enjoy it

2. Give us the child version already, that will deffinatley add to Oliver's character

Then why the hell didn't they just hire a black actress to play Ollie's babymama so they could use that storyline as a way to bring Connor in. Now it looks like he will have to be someone else's kid. That's so unnecessary. They're just making things up as they go.

So the writers for Arrow made the setup for Connor for no reason? Seems unnecessary to make him from another dimension. I guess because the show has alternate dimensions and time travel they want to use them all whether it is needed or not.

@marcohtx: Yes they are making stuff up as they go because that's how long running TV shows work. Do you think they had Legends of Tomorrow in mind when they planted the "Oliver has an illegitimate child" seed 2 years ago? No of course they didn't because that's not how writing for television or writing in general works.

People need to be realistic with themselves. The only way that Oliver could have an adult or even teenage son at the moment who'd therefore be old enough to actually matter is if he was from an alternate world/timeline. Enough time hasn't passed for his kid with that one girl to even be 10 yet.

Problem is that he WONT be Ollie's son from another timeline/universe. They shot themselves in the foot by setting up his story in season 2 with a white mother, now they need a black character (in this case rightfully). At best he might be Oliver's adopted son/God son from the future with Diggle being his real father,that's the only salvageable solution.

This right here is proof that Arrow has no clue what to do with core GA characters,Conner now joins Vertigo,Drakon,Komodo,Roy and Brick in a list of characters wasted by Arrow. Cant wait for Damian Queen to show up with Talia now(sarcasm).

Which is just fine. Again, the setup they previously have for Ollie having a son wouldn't work, and really would never work unless there's a timeskip of many years, for him to play a leading role in the present day. It doesn't matter if they'd made the girl black, hispanic, or native american. That kid she has could not have possibly been this guy that they have planned to show up now, because he still wouldn't have been old enough, regardless of what his race is. Therefore, if Connor Hawke,as a son of Oliver Queen, was ever going to show up he would've had to have been from an alternate reality of some sort. They don't seem to want to do that, so they're retooling the character and his origin to have a different version show up, just as they've done with numerous other characters. I see nothing wrong with this at all and think it's silly to say whether it'll work well or not when we haven't even seen the guy yet.

But Legends of Tomorrow is a spin-off. Why would they choose to use something they've been building on Arrow and have it payoff on this, when Oliver's not even appearing on this? That's a waste. Just doesn't seem like a big deal that they're choosing to use someone else entirely for Connor Hawke, especially when we again still don't know who this kid's going to be or what his connection to Oliver will be.

how fucked the world has become. I repeat, It is not racist to not want white characters made black for no reason other than diversity. I would argue in fact that its those who wish to take white cultural icons and make them black those are the true racists.
