STARFIRE #2

(W) Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti (A) Emanuela Lupacchino (CA) Amanda Conner

Florida is so nice this time of year...the warm weather...the beach...and Starfire beating the crud out of the bad guys! You should really try to get down there and see for yourself.

Looks like the artist (who is great) has studied at the Terry Dodson School of Drawing.

It's kind of annoying that Amanda does the cover for all 3 DC comics she writes. Especially since i like Starfire's inner art better.

But aside from that, I love this book :)

Her character change is a little bit too much, she really shouldn't be just like in the cartoon show, but idk, I still love it.

A butt and boob pose where those features aren't prominent? That's new.

Um what category is this hurricane? I live in Florida and have endured hurricanes all my life. Never have I ever seen a car fly around or a bolted down sign fly off and crash through a building.

@papad1992: This is a BS-Class hurricane. This means that it will be as intense as a writer wants to make the plot better even if it must defy reality to do so.

If they're choosing such a "grounded" place as Florida or The Keys to establish their locale for this series, than at least stay true to the place in terms of realistic intentions... No matter if there is a "flying orange alien girl," stuff like a flying car and a bolted sign being launched into a building during a hurricane supersedes the suspension of disbelief infused into the material.

But that's just my opinion as a Floridian.

@papad1992: I think you make a fair point, if it's not a made up place the writer should do some research, it's the truth for books so why not comics? One of the most fun comics like this should have is the ability to imagine what a world we live in with superheroes is like. It's not always going to be realistic but writers should try there best when given the opportunity.

I agree 100%... Do some research, take a trip and observe the environment.

There's a nice line dividing fiction and non-fiction. But if we are to entertain fictional books placed and grounded in non-fictional places, an element of realism should be noted and felt. I look at these previews and immediately feel disconnected.
