If you read the first volume of Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's NEMESIS, you know things got a little crazy. With the sequel due to land in comic shops next month, Marvel has announced NEMESIS RETURNS, by the same creative team, has a new launch date.

No Caption Provided

The two are committed to have the series come out on a regular schedule and are looking at January 2013 to launch the new series. McNiven has also teamed up with two new talents and opened a new studio endeavor, Carbon Sun Studios.

Nemesis means a lot to me and I want it to be the best of my stuff out there. I want it done right, and we’ll make sure Nemesis gets his due.

Mark Millar also added:

Did I mention that the series opens with a car driving out of an airplane and landing in a swimming pool?

NEMESIS RETURNS #1

Written by MARK MILLAR

Art & Cover by STEVE MCNIVEN

The first volume is now available in a premiere hardcover edition.

Another "Nemesis" book? No, thanks. The first one almost gave me cancer.

I didn't hate Nemesis like some people seemed to, but I wasn't thrilled with it either. I think I'm going to stick with Kick-Ass and Superior to get my Millar fix (assuming that Superior gets a sequel) and skip this.

That said, McNiven's art always looks great.

Exactly. "What if Batman was a Joker" could be handled much better.

Im excited, though it does seem that Millar is starting to pull a shyamalan - He started amazing and mind -blowing, but then he got cart blanche with no one willing to edit him and his work began to decline.

@Kairan1979 Not just for the "What if..." The first Nemesis seemed a comic book written by Michael Bay. I love Millar but he needs to calm down. Everyone loves blood and violence but that things don't make a story.

My question is: why? Did we really need another Nemesis book? The first one was so stupid, over the top, filled with senseless violence that it actually made me feel dirty for reading this, and not in the good way, but in the sitting in the shower holding my knees way. It was awful. But it must have had incredible sales to get a sequel. Millar's getting worse and worse, kinda like the love child of Bay and Shyamalan set loose on the comic industry. Oh, and if this rant didn't make some people hate my guts than this should (although I don't mean to be a troll, just wanted to tell this for so long): Kick Ass is overrated and clearly showed symptoms of Millars decline into unnecessary violence.

@Webjaker: I actualyl like to think of him as Frank Miller done right. Sure he has crazy aspects to his stories, but at least they're GOOD. Frank Miller was very similar to Millar, but never bounced back.

In this new volume's defense, all that violence and obscenity in the previous volume was that particular client's idea of fun as a super villain. What intrigues me more is the true intentions of the old guy helping these rich %^&*#s get their way with the world. This is literally going to be about a new character with a hopefully new personality, though he'll be moved around on a chessboard by the same mastermind.

Exactly.

My only question is, are they brining back the same cast? Like same Police Dude and Nemesis or, a whole new thing. I hope new.

Millar? On a regular schedule? We've heard that PLENTY of times before.

Also, the first series was junk. I'd rather he wrote more Superior.

Well i did like the first one

I mean if joker gets a book were he creates random havoc no one complains but when we get a new character everyone start to complain and say is shit ?

Sometimes is cool to sit and read a comic with a fucked up main character.

soooooooooo hyped for this! I never thought a squeal would actually come out but they must have something really good cooking if their going to (im really putting my faith in Millar that it's not just for the money). Hopefully it can live up to the first one.

I like Millar a whole lot. I love Kick-Ass, I am enjoying Super-Crooks, and still skeptical on The Secret Service (we'll see if the build-up pays off with that). Nemesis was just no fun for me though. It was a gimmick that did just rang hollow. A super villain comic presents on major problem. No relatable characters, thus no emotional impact or attachment. Super-Crooks has villains as a characters, but in more of a Goodfellas meets Oceans Eleven type way. I will likely read this, but I sure as shit won't pay for it without confirmation it doesn't suck like last time. The last issue twist was nice, but not worth reading the other 3 to get there.

@239461: Millar said he hopes Kingsman brings about the Nemesis movie.

I assume if it does we'll get our sequel
