Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale's CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHITE is Finally Coming Out

What were you doing back in 2008? If you were reading comics, you might remember Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHITE zero issue. The two have joined forces several times with some great color-themed series. The problem is, after the zero issue for a Captain America and Bucky miniseries, the project basically fell off the Earth. We even asked Loeb on occasion and there was no firm date for it's release. Until now.

Marvel has released some information on when we can finally expect to see it.

The wait is over! Today, Marvel is pleased to announce that CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHITE #1 is set to be published in September of this year! The Eisner-award winning creative team of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale reunite to bring you the next installment in their prestigious ‘color’ book series.

Has it really been 7 years since the 0 issue? I guess I need to dive into the depths of my collection and see if I can find it.

Is this comic set before or after the introduction of the Winter Soldier?

So, All-New Captain America is now kinda "Captain America: Black"? That's not polit correct.

I wouldn't trust Loeb to write a grocery list at this point.

My money will be spent better elsewhere.

@risingbean: I don't know but I kinda enjoy Sam Alexander's Nova.

Then again, it's not good as RR and five issues was too quick (plus no hint that Sam might be half-alien, which might open some story potential if his dad was a Xandarian or Spartoi and relative to Peter Quil for Marvel tangled family tree, huzzah!) but at least it's not Ultimatum. Not to mention that the only redeeming quality is that he's not "brown-haired white dude".

However, that his "color series" was written just after his son died. So his mind may not be sane by that time.

Wonder if I still have the zero issue? I was way into the Marvel color books around that time.

Odd that there's not a mention of what caused the delay. Are we getting the same series that was supposed to come out in 2008, or is it a new story that they reused the same title for?

I met Loeb a couple years ago, and asked him about this, and he said Tim Sale was still working on it. I was a little dubious, but he did sign my copy of Spider-Man Blue.

This may be the last new thing from Marvel I will be reading. I hope Loeb still got that writing talent left.

I'm slightly hoping they don't. It's going to be a pain in the ass to sell the current omnibus and upgrade for an extra story.

And, I'm getting particularly fed up with Marvel and DC taking established White characters and turning them black. The only reason they do that is because if they created new black characters and put them in stand alone books, nobody would buy them.

A black Perry White, a black Nick Fury, and now a black Johnny Storm for God's sake!

If they didn't want my money, all they needed to do was take an ad saying, "We want to go broke", because I'm not buying that trash.

@dv: The race changes in the movies don't really bug me but I was a little annoyed by the whole Nick Fury jr thing. It wasn't because he was black it was just the way they introduced him, he was Nick Fury's never before mentioned bi racial child who just happened to loose the same eye as his dad, then all of the sudden decided to change his name to Nick Fury then was just handed a high ranking position in a top secret organization.

The term shoehorned doesn't begin to cover that mess.

I'm not sure if the people in here that think White refers to race are serious or not. It's like how Daredevil used to wear yellow so they did a "Daredevil: Yellow" and how Spider-Man is half blue and they did "Spider-Man: Blue" cap is in red white and blue so they named this "Captain America: White" All of these stories take place every early in their career.

Loeb and Sale make an awesome team, so I'm sure this will be great. Can't wait!

I already have Yellow and Blue. Need to get Gray and now White.
