@nicksmi56: sometimes yes, but in other cases part of the story takes place in sonic the hedgehog, the other parts took place in mega man, and then some were in sonic univese.

for example it says

Sonic universe: #71 - #74, but doesn't mention 70, so you don't need 70 to understand whats going on.

If you really want to stick to just "Sonic the hedgehog" I am pretty sure at the end of the issue it says "find out what happens in___" and tells you what book to get next
