Things are looking pretty good for David Tennant, he's going to be playing Kilgrave in the upcoming Jessica Jones Netflix series and he's just been cast to play Mason Savoy in the CHEW animated feature. Reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Tennant has signed on to fill the spot of the late Robin Williams who was cast originally to play the role.
Tennant joins Steven Yeun, who plays the main character Tony Chu, and Felicia Day, who is playing Amelia Mintz. Both Day and Yeun finished recording their parts last year and Tennant is doing his this week.
CHEW follows Detective Tony Chu who is a "cibopath," a person who gets psychic visions from whatever he eats, except for beets. He lives in a world where bird meat is illegal after a bird flu killed millions of Americans. There are a plethora of other types of "paths" within the story as well, including Amelia Mintz who can describe food in writing so well that the reader feels like they're eating it. Tennant's character, Mason Savoy, is Chu's mentor who eventually becomes the villain.
No news yet on when fans will be able to check this animated feature out, but we'll keep you updated.
