If you've been reading the current CAPTAIN AMERICA by Rick Remender, you're aware things aren't going too well for Steve Rogers. With the Super Soldier Serum no longer keeping him young, his future as Captain America is questionable. We've known a new Cap was coming. Marvel has announced the identity of the next Captain America.

Get ready for Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, to take on the mantle of Captain America.

“This is it,” says Remender of the culmination of two years of storytelling in CAPTAIN AMERICA and the dawning of ALL-NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA. “This is the fireworks factory we’re arriving at, and now everything’s going to blow up and be very pretty and exciting to look at. It leads into an evolution of Steve Rogers’ character that I had very early when I was given the job. I think that it’s important with these stories to do things that are natural and make sense and have an inherent logic to the universe, but are also constantly shifting and exciting, keeping the drama high. In order to do that it really comes down to creating new dynamics.

“I’ve been having a lot of fun writing Sam. It’s a completely different attitude. The fact that he’s not a soldier shifts things up a bit. Sam’s not going to be Steve. Steve can be very rigid. That can be kind of joyless at times, whereas Sam is absolutely not that.”

I'm up for it, since we all know that Steve will be back one day.

Not big on the costume design, but I'm excited to see how the shield and its ricocheting works together with Falcon's aerial combat. That should make for some fun fights.

Of course. I dont like it all that much but at least it makes sense unlike female Thor. If there was anyone other than Bucky that was going to take up the Captain America mantle it would be Falcon.

Other than Bucky, Sam Wilson is definitely the most deserving.

Gonna be interesting to see his development if he actually keeps the shield.

Yesterday Marvel announced that Thor would become a woman, today they announced Captain America will become black, all they need to do now to complete their "politically correct Trinity" is to announce tomorrow that Iron Man is homosexual. -__-

Cool. A lot of these hero changes are weird though. First making wally west black, then thor a girl, now captain America black. How about creating and pushing new characters now sacrificing old, popular, established ones even for a short period of time. Or in west's case, for as long as the new 52 lasts.

This is still cool though.

Remender's Cap has been terrible.

Actually I don't really care about "omg a black guy is playing captain america??" But this had no really any build up...Falcon from Avengers World title and Captain America, he didn't do really much.

Now all of a sudden the mantle is given to Falcon.But I do dig the design where the winter soldier outfit logo is placed on the chest.Plus they brought his wings to Captain America mantle so we finally get a Captain America who can fly !!

Ah screw it. I give up. Falcon as Cap.

I'll give it a shot. I hope we see him in many montages as he learns to master the shield. Also his relationship with Jet Black should definitely become more and more interesting.

Seems cool, it's just too bad I haven't liked any of Remender's series thus far.

Looks great. He's like the american eagle now :)

What the f*ck is Marvel doing?

I think this works more than Thor. We know who Falcon is, and I like him. I'll give this one a shot, plus I trust Remender.

Don't mind it. But would have preferred Falcon getting his movie costume.

• I get they are trying to push Falcon but I feel it would have been better under his own name. I don't feel this is right for him. For me it's not a step forward but a step under a shadow.

Hmmmm…I am torn. I want to take a deep breath and yell NOOOOOO! but I don't really hate this decision because I'm all for legacy characters. The issue I have with this is that I feel this is a step in the wrong direction for Falcon. Is he the only person that may deserve to dawn the shield other than Bucky (who isn't Steve)? Yeah. But he's already been established as his own character for years so I don't see why making him Cap will do him any good. But hey, I guess that's because Bucky will be shooting space demons in his own series for the time being, right?

Without super-soldier serum, Sam Wilson has much to prove. Should be an exciting arc, filled with a great deal of winged ass-kicking. :)

Also it's cool Steve Rogers is back at base, acting as tactician and shield instructor.

I hope it's Arno. I think it would be really cool if marvel had the balls to take out and replace their big three. I'm guessing the fire guy is the dude from Inhuman. It makes me so sad they are pushing Lang and not Pym as Ant-Man. v.v

@teerack: I think that is what might happen actual and at this point isn't Pym working with the Avengers A.I. as just Pym at this point,

Avengers A.I was canceled a long time ago. Mark Waid is a big fan of Pym and has him show up in Hulk and Daredevil from time to time since he writes those, but other then that not much is keeping him out of limbo.
