Kid Buu was the very first form, every time he absorbed someone he technically got stronger. He only wasn't as dangerous in his "Majin Buu" form (the very first form shown in the series) because the will of the Ancient Kai inside him was so strong it contained his evil intent. After Buu divided into Good Buu and Evil Buu and the evil version defeated and ate the good one, he gained access to all the absorbed power without any of the moral restraint (forming Super Buu). From that point on every extra absorption was more powerful than the previous one, culminating in Buuhan.
Gohan was the most powerful non-fused individual at the end of the Buu Saga, so Kid Buu+Gohan (plus all the other characters absorbed up to that point) is without a doubt more powerful than plain Buu. That's why Fusion was so essential, no one could have defeated Buu with all the absorptions stacked.
Goku at the end of the Buu Saga simply wasn't the most powerful character anymore, that's why Kid Buu was an worthy final opponent for him. Gohan was way more powerful (stomped Super Buu without any trouble) but he was killed when the Earth blew up while he was unconscious.
No. He probably stops at Dabura (Spit ending is funny and realistic Broly tanked everything). He definitely stops at Majin Buu (candy cause Broly tanks everything). Then Gotenks wins by an even larger margin with SSJ3 by overpowering Broly. Super Buu can't lose the fight. It'd be pretty much impossible. Candy or absorption or just trashing him. Take your pick.
Then you still have characters like Super Buu Gotenks absorbed and Mystic Gohan. Then Vegito, the strongest guy in Z. Definitely not clearing.
we know for a fact how strong Fat Buu was due to Babidi directly showing and telling us how much Energy Gohan in SSj2 provided, Fat Buu is roughly 2.25x-2.5x stronger than SSj2 at Gohan level and since Gohan was weaker than when he fought Cell and Weaker than SSJ2 Goku and Vegeta we can roughly assume that Fat Buu has 2-2.25x the PL of Majin Vegeta and SSJ2 Goku so ultimately far weaker than SSj3.
we know that in 8th Movie Goku and Gohan are in MSSJ since is post Hyperbolic Tme Chamber and they were getting dogwalked it took the combined Ki of Goku, GOhan, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo to beat him so roughly 2 MSSJ, 2 Ascended SSJ and 1 SSJ
2 MSSJ = SSJ2 , 2 Ascended SSJ + 1 SSJ/Piccolo is roughly on par with 1 MSSJ = a fighter that is only 50% stronger than the average SSJ2 manage to 1 shot Brolly

End of Buu Arc Gohan was 100% the most powerful individual character. He stomped Super Buu, who was literally an amped version of Kid Buu with a more focused mindset.
No individual character could beat even Kid Buu, except maybe Goku (and that's a big maybe considering he needed the Spirit Bomb to win in the end) so Gohan stomping Super Buu should clear any doubts about his power.
Goku became more powerful again by training but Gohan was undeniably the strongest at the end of the Buu Saga.
Movie verse characters are far stronger than their canon counterparts. Broly is easily galaxy ro multi galaxy level with how you consider the cosmology. Goku should be universe level as he was able to shake the afterlife and hell and even light it up by just transforming into ssj3.
