I've seen a few of the episodes, but never got into it really. Which season is this in?
Methos says:
"Andferne says:"Ok that didn't help any. Stargate? like the tv show?"yeah... currently licensed by Avatar Press, i'm working on the pages at the moment lol but one of the main alien races they come accross is the Asgard, who have been visiting earth, and other planets, for thousands of years, using their advanced technology to appear to the humans as Gods :D the main guy that Stargate uses is Thor find more about them here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asgard_%28Stargate%29 M"
They more or less borrowed that idea from the original star trek series episode "who mournes for adonis" where kirk and crew came across a being who claimed to be one of the greek gods, where kirk and spock theorized that hundreds/thousands of years ago, aliens would have seemed like gods if they came to earth in that period!

The asgard first appear in season one, then make regular appearances until the end of SG1 and then the first 3 seasons of Stargate Atlantis...
it's worth watching...

yup... the main badguys in Stargate for the first 8 seasons are the Goa'uld, who have taken on the mythos of the Egyptian Gods...
you see a hell of a lot of Mythology in Stargate from Egyptian, Asgard, right through to Atlantis and King Arthur with everything in between lol
M
Andferne says:
"The asgard and Kind Arthur ones I wouldbe interested in seeing. Maybe the atlantien ones too, but not as much. Never got into egyption myth."
lol, unfortunately it's all wrapped in together...
for the King Arthur stuff you want seasons 7 - 10, for Atlantis you want seasons 6 - 7 then Stargate Atlantis...
for Asgard you want Seasons 1 - 10
for Egyptian you want seasons 1 - 8...
you can't really have one without the rest :D

I know we are getting off subject but have you read the Thor comic when he went up against the Eqyptian god of thunder?
Most likely I have seen/read it. Off the top of my head I can't remember it specifically. I know there was a while where they pited him aganinst all the other gods that delt with thunder or lightning. One after the other he won if I remember right. Then fought Zeus to a standstill basically.

that was mainly because one of their main goddesses was feline based...
Bast was both lion-headed and cat-headed (Depending on the depiction) and attended by cats and therefore cats were sacred and revered in Egypt; killing one was a heinous crime, and when a household cat died mourning rites were performed for it. Cats were often found in temples and were ritually fed; stray cats were treated with honour and fed, and the household cat was allowed to share the family's food. Cat amulets were produced and elaborate cat-sized sarcophagi crafted for cats who had died, who were often embalmed as humans were.

Yup that where it lost my interest. Not sure why I dislike the house cat so much, but I do. It's kinda wierd I guess.

K. Will put under a Thor Thread.
As far as Odin and Zeus, I stil feel people believe Odin to be more powerful because he's be shown more in comics through Thor's regular series.
lordraiden says:
"Legendary Bio Vishanti says:"Zeus is stronger."Odin, well above!"
You don't know what you're talking about. :p
Alpha says:
"Legendary Bio Vishanti says:"Zeus is stronger."Why? "
He can lift more weight.

Even if that was so, it doesn't make him more powerful.

I put that cover under "Thor god of thunder respect thread"
Dangit the hijacked thread got hijacked back on subject. Oh well couldn't of lasted forever I guess.
I stated earlier that I can see Zeus being physically stronger than Odin, but when all powers are unleashed Ithink Odin takes this.
It is true however we have not seen as much of Zeus as we have Odin. So we could all be underestimateing his powers, but who knows for sure.
buhdlight says:
"I think that Odin is stronger because the Norse Gods are more physical, violent in nature than the Greek Gods. This may just make them more warlike, not necessarily stronger, what do you think?"
That's a good point but because your nature is war doesn't make you more powerful. Just means they are more skilled at it. Power is Power, and I can't see a one being more powerful than the other.
Alpha says:
"Legendary Bio Vishanti says:"In overall Odin is stronger."what's your basis? "
IMAAAAAAAAAAAAAGINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATION Makes Rainbow by waving hands
Well the Norse Gods are more savage, the Olympians are more apt to be chasing virgins and drinking wine (not that I blame them), While the Norse Gods are fighting each other or looking for something to fight. Once again, it doesn't make Odin stronger, but if we have no true point of reference, it's something to consider.

Yes, I know.
IMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATION. Makes another Rainbow by waving hands

In that regard, its needs to be considered that Zeus is stronger than all other olympians (except for Herc). On Marvel.com, Odin can lift 60 tons, which is the same as Ares. That being the case, Zeus is stronger. If he's stronger in that department, he may be stronger in others.

If that's current, it's good enough for me.
lordraiden says:
"Zeus is well under odin! thor himself stalemated zues for a time! odin is a reality manipulator! Zeus is not in odins league! Odin 100% Odin>zeus, thor>Zeus,Herc and ares!"
The question is "who's stronger Odin or Zeus?" and no matter what you would like to think, Zeus IS physically stronger than Odin. Odin is listed as 60 tons while Zeus is listed at 90 tons. As for who is more powerful, Odin has been shown to use magic in more ways than Zeus, but (in an future "tale") Zeus totally incinerated Ares with a single blast. If you take out writers and the fact that NO story is going to show Thor really die, normal Thor (without Odin's power) wouldn't last two seconds against Zeus PERIOD!
